Christian Wiggins out for the 2026-27 season with a torn achilles

And their muscles haven’t caught up.
I think it’s more tendons and ligaments are getting pushed farther by the incredible power athletes have now.

But on the other hand, guys like Kirk Cousins don’t fit that bill.

I remember when Dan Marino tore his Achilles in the 90s and it seemed relatively unheard of. Now it seems very common.

Then TJ raves about how great he looked in his first two weeks of practice. I’d rather hear him say, “Eh, no big deal. He didn’t look that good anyway.” Hopefully his recovery goes well and we see him in the court next year.

So we are paying a freshman NIL money and he is hurt. That really sucks. Hopefully he sticks around for the long hall. Hate when players come for a year and then are hurt and bail the next year.

The only guys that have done that weren't good enought to play here.

You would rather hear him insult the roster? Thats how you get no one to come here

There must be something different about modern athletes because Achilles injuries used to be rare and usually happened to older players.

They're almost as common as ACL injuries now. Wonder what has changed?
The year round work load (AAU/club/travel ball) that starts when kids can walk (sarcasm) has had a drastic impact in my opinion.

Ryan Prather going to have to step up a bit more than expected. Maybe an opportunity for Xzavion as well.

Hate that news for Wiggins. Hope he attacks recovery and comes back better than ever.

As a fan, you have to look at this glass half full and just act like he is a 2027 recruit. Im not so sure there will be another school in the country bringing in 4 better players than Wiggins, Harrington, Davis and Kohnen. That is a ridiculous influx of talent in 2027-2028.

Not a surprise given that youth sports has kids specializing and playing year round. Hardwood courts are tough on the knees, hips, and ankles and its easy for these athletes to build bad physical habits over time.

This will hurt some this year but also next year as well. Firstly he could have been a contributor and added depth. Now our margin for error if other injuries occur is less. And frankly, for whatever reason, for us they tend to happen. Secondly, it is going to hurt for the year after this year. Instead of a guy with some floor experience for the 2027/2028 season, we will get a rookie. For example, imagine if Batemon was out for last year, there is no way he was going to be able to step up to the player he will be this year.

On the plus side, this injury didn't happen in March.
