I was watching the Jackson press conference and right at the end it sounded like someone asked him about the planned Hilton renovation. Jackson responded, that was a selling point.

We continue to talk about the south end zone, but it is possible that we might proceed with the Hilton renovation before the south end zone. Think about it. We always have success in wrestling and WBB, we have also had recent success in volleyball and most people think we have a legit shot at making the tourney next year in MBB.

At the same time, we will be lucky to make a bowl game in football and we won't be able to challenge for title for a few years. With the necessities now taken care of at JT, it seems logical that we would turn toward improving concessions and renovations at Hilton.

It makes sense, but I suppose we could do it anyway.

The question was about a "second-floor renovation", which could be either the current project at Jacobson (restructuring coaches' offices), OR a potential project at Lied -- the wrestling practice room is housed on the 2nd floor there.

Somebody remind me, because I can't find it on cyclones.com--what's there to be done on Hilton? Wasn't the largest part of the Hilton renovation going to be the practice facility? Now that that's at a different location, what else is there?

$uites, for one thing. I think a suite would be pretty sweet.

They are going to widen the concourse, create suites, and preform some other renovations. Basically they are going to place glass between the pillars and build some boxes at the bottom of the second level.

"Were" is the operative word.

It is on a plan somewhere, but the boxes, widening of the concourse, etc, are not on any approved timetable tat this point. They are on hold.

Last I heard they may be remodeling the old offices for a high end donor reception/function area on the east side.

At this point the other is just a goal, not planned.

I would guess the stadium is still ahead of this, unless a donor steps up I think this is way in the future.

They have already remodel the offices on the west side and I know they are going to remodel the coaches offices on the east side, in fact they likely have already started. Last I heard the Court Cy'd reception area is going to be where the coaches office reception area was.

The facility master plan has been approved which did include Hilton renovations. The regents would have to approve the plans before anything else could be done, but as we have seen before, that can happen in less than a month.

Considering where we are in the Hilton sports and where we are in football, I wonder if we should think about pushing ahead with the Hilton renovations.

Its all up to a donor. If a donor says "i want to contribute 10mil to JT" itll get done. Alternately, if the donor says "i want to contribute 20 mil to hilton removations, thatll get done first. This is how the basketball practice facility got moved up.

What if the contribution is more in the $7.86 range? I don't want to throw my weight around too much, but I want to see stuff get done.

But-but-but more seats at JT means more $$$!

I heard estimates that closing the south end zone would be 10-12K seats?

Yeah, that question was asked by Scott Kasber and I'm not sure what he was referring to. The offices are being renovated but I don't know anything about the wrestling room at Lied being worked on.

The net gain of ACTUAL seats would be ~7,924. This does NOT take into account loss of SW and SE hillside seating.

I know that the wrestling room at Lied is going to be renovated and possibly expanded once the the rec facility is built.

Hijacking my own thread, but I just looked on the Cyclone website and got excited to see a therometer........only to see it was an advertisement.
