Tamin Lipsey signs with the Indiana Pacers on an Exhibit-10 deal

Feels to me like that’s going to be a tough Indiana lineup for him to crack. They have some dudes at the guard spots.
Won't be about this year but next year. TJ McConnell is 34 years old. Nembhard can play PG or SG. McConnell has been very successful for them and Lipsey and Braden Smith are basically his size. Pretty sure those 2 guys are competing to take McConnells spot in 2 years. If they both play well early and Tyrease shows he is fully recovered, its possible they even trade McConnell.

I would be suprised if the Pacers traded TJ because he is such a big part of their second unit. Like you pointed out, Nembhard gives them some flexibility with his ability to play PG. With Tyrese back I doubt they really need another PG on the roster, but Lipsey and Smith both could be competing for a 2 way contract.

Loved watching McConnell running the second unit 2 years ago. Didn’t watch any Pacers game last season because of Tyrese being out. Will be tuning back in next season!
Will be a really tough road for Tamin with Smith being a local kid and they traded for him. Tamin will make the best of it, be it with the Pacers or somewhere else. Hopefully with the Pacers though!

Having smith local, I’m guessing the pacers org saw everything that he does well. Also on a note, I wonder if they were present for the beatdown that ISU handed them earlier this last season. Who knows but that could’ve swayed the pacers brass enough to take a flier on Lipsey?

Likely not mid season unless Smith and Lipsey just blow them away. Could totally see it next off-season. They don't have a lot of financial flexibility so I wouldn't rule it out. A playoff team needing a backup PG but excess bench scoring might want to make that swap.

So as long as he makes it on the G-league team he can make a living on that amount right? Looks like it is a very flexible contract but I thought I saw the base was $80-90k for earning a G league contract. That would be nice to give some time to develop. McConnell is 34, wonder if they think with 2 years to develop he becomes the replacement.

I believe Smith already signed a two-way. They "could" waive Smith at any time but he's probably a lock to have it since they already singed it.

He will probably be competing with Ethan Thompson, Taelon Peter, Keba Keita, Kowacie Reeves for one of the last two-way spots. Pacers still have two roster spots available too, doubtful Tamin would get that but another player could freeing up a two-way spot.

Sorry for being a noob but what is an exhibit 10 contract? Can he get picked up by another team if pacers cut him post summer league? Either way I think Lipsey will at minimum get a cup of coffee in the NBA he works too hard not to.

you're thinking of the XZibit 10 contract, which is where they take your car while you're at the game and return it to you with wacky thematic upgrades

Exclusive contract through the preseason (training camp, summer league and preseason). From there he can sign a two way contract or the Pacers retain the right to him for G League play and he gets a bonus if he plays for their G League team. Or of course he can make the Pacers on minimum salary plus a small bonus.

Yep, Tj's got 1-year guaranteed with Indiana before the Pacers can get out of the contract, plus he'll be 35.

A G-league year (Heavy PT in the G-Leauge, a couple call ups to the Pacers) with a shot to make the 2027/28 Pacers has to be one of the best options for Tamin!

He does EVERYTHING TJ does, but is younger and cheaper
