Some of that was that ISU offered early and many times after one P4 offers, other P4s decide they should take a look. Its not surprising but a lot of the offers include one P5 and a lot of G5 or all G5. It's his first year and he isn't a household name with recruits or a history at ISU to sell. The success of this class and probably the next 2 will come down to can he find players that fit his system and find people that are overlooked and have the ability to play in the B12. It almost always does at ISU, it will be interesting to watch.
By the end of the Campbell era he could find a couple 4 stars in a class(sometimes a 4 star that other passed on for a reason like Dominique Orange that turned out well), I would say 75% of the rest of the class 3 stars that had solid P4 recruitment and 20-25% of the class that had mostly G5 competitors. Rogers will need some years of success before he can be in that situation.
Campbell was able to identify his type of players to recruit and win. That has to be same process for Rogers. And Rogers needs to have some early success on the field.I was going to bring up the same thing. I would like to see some higher ranked recruits. I know stars aren't everything, but usually the kids with the more stars have more offers and more offers from bigger schools.

But Iowa State's success has never been reliant on 4/5 star players. Whether it was Campbell or McCarney.
And as fans we probably need to get used to NIL/House are going to impact ISU ability to recruit 4/5 star players.
Also recruiting this fall will probably be different because of the almost complete turnover when Rogers was hired. They put together a new roster in a month and it's possible, they will see a lot of misses. So instead of 20-25 player classes we saw with Campbell. The 2027 class might be 35 recruits.
Will wait and watch this season. A journeyman QB, xfer RB, unknown OL and DL. Only thing we have is Konrardy and Flora. Think non con games could be losses if team is a mishmash. So practice patience and accept reality!
Currently 9 have another P4 offer. 9 do not. Assuming 247 has an accurate recording of offers....which is also a big assumption. Also, guys routinely gather offers even after committed. We were the only high major offer for low level players like R Mason Thomas and Kenyon Sadiq at one point when they committed.6 of 14 have other high major offers. 8 don’t have another high major offer. Thats Paul Rhoads level recruiting. Again though, hard to recruit when you haven’t coached a game yet. Thats why the 28 class will be the one to watch.
Southeast Missouri State had 15 player transfer out & Bowling Green had 41 transfer out. I'd bet they will be figuring things out too. Will wait and watch this season. This dude flipped to us yesterday. Didn’t see it posted anywhere.
Fair statements. I would add the following about selling "hope:" We are spending $18 million (??) on players, our coaches have been in the NFL, produced NFL players, and have won national championships.Yeah, I feel like they're going to need to have a quick trigger. Obviously, they are selling hope right now as the staff is pretty unproven at this level. They are going to need some fairly early success to get in the door with higher rated kids. I don't know if that's 6-6 or whatever, but they are definitely taking some risks on underrated kids. It (somewhat) worked for Campbell. The key is if they see a kid isn't going to work out, cut bait and hit the portal. This staff has already shown that they aren't afraid to use the portal, so that gives me some hope.
This staff is recruiting better than Rhoads so far, that seems clear. Nobody had worse recruiting assistants than that guy, ooof.He flipped from Houston.
Also had offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, NC State, Okie State, Kansas, Kentucky, Miss State, Mizzou, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

They are selling much more than hope, imo.
That's fair, but every coach in ISU history has had to do that. What I mean by that is you’re either selling hope or you’re selling results. They dont have results at this level, so they are selling a vision right now. Campbell had to do the same his first year.

I know we brought a coach up from Houston with a connection here but still - pulling a good WR from a program on the upswing was a nice get.CE King is a tough area of town - kid should be ready to smack some peeps around!
