Texas Tech 10 Million Dollar Portal Season

Maybe someone touched on this. How does having a starting quarterback with a gambling problem affect betting lines for those games? Are there concerns?
I would think it be concern. Big time. Talk with the investigators watching over the casinos. They could tell you more than I could.

Here is the biggest concern I think. What if someone from a syndicate approaches him. What does Sorsby do. It has happened before. And even if someone doesn’t approach him that fear will always be there, especially from the books.

Degenerate gamblers get screwed by degenerate gambler quarterback, sign me up for that timeline. Legalized sports betting invading every aspect of sports and being supported by all the leagues is the worst.

I would imagine they just simply won't list Tech games this fall.
Doubtful

We care because we know, as the Sorsby case is a big deal from a perception standpoint.

They’ve needed to care long before this. Very good chance they’ve already listed games in which it’s known players have small bets on it.

They only care only about making money. They’re against Sorsby playing, as perception of WWE legitimacy could hurt supply of bettors, if people feel at an information disadvantage in terms of the motivations of players

But, if we’re honest, liquidity in these markets is incredibly insensitive to retail investors/bettors being at a disadvantage. The supply of bettors won’t diminish because of Sorsby

The start of the repositioning imo

Distancing themselves from how we got here, which may be true.

No statement on playing him.

Saying they’ll monitor his progress in handling his addiction

I expect Did Not Play- Coaches Decision for all 13 games, or Sorsby to leave for Supplemental draft (will NFL fans have similar outrage?)

A pseudo **** you from Tech to those that are using this as a guise for Greenblood hating

lol what a load of ********. That's why Art Briles was so lenient when it came to his players proclivities, he couldn't just kick them off the team and take away their support structure

The whole AD statement would have made sense if it included "We have decided to provide ongoing support for Brendan, while also giving him the best opportunity to focus on these issues. For this reason, he will remain on the team, but not be participating on the field of play in the 2026 Texas Tech football season." You want integrity, Mr. Hocutt? Prove it.

Simple solution TTU AD: DISMISS SORSBY

He's allowing this to continue, but wants to play the innocent card. He also stated “As we have said before, we do not believe that the circumstances of Brendan’s case warranted permanent ineligibility."

This is a complete mockery of not just college football or college sports, but a mockery of any competitive event

Why would they do that right now?

The fact they didn’t commit to playing him is pretty telling imo

I don’t know what to think. Texas tech is arguably the richest big 12 school, I don’t know if it would be smart to refuse to play them. They might bolt out of the big 12 the first chance they get if conference teams refuse to play them.

I think multiple things are true:

  • I don't blame Tech for trying to get him play. I don't like it, I don't agree with it, but I can see why they're going to hide behind the courts and claim the legal/innocent card. The sport is all but gone in the sense of law and order and everyone will scratch and claw their way to the top breaking any and every rule needed.
  • I also don't blame other schools if they don't want to have anything to do with Tech as a protest of their playing Brandon.
  • A lot of schools (they'd never admit it) especially our friends to the Southeast would do the exact same thing Tech is doing.
  • It's a low integrity thing to do what Tech is doing but hell the sport has lost just about all integrity as it is.
  • Allowing Brandon to play is basically saying hey go ahead and gamble all you want, and if you get caught just go get help and you should be good to go.
  • If this was Tech's third string safety you just know this would be a non-story.

Bolt for where? No one wants them or has ever wanted TT. This just adds to that undesirability
