Milan Momcilovic withdraws from the 2026 NBA Draft

Nobody on CF has given up anything close to 3 million dollars out of loyalty to ISU, and nobody would. Just stop.
I never said that. But you spent thousands of dollars in tuition going to Iowa State, continue to spend thousands of dollars to support Iowa State aftwerwards. And then a college kid from Wisconsin comes here to play basketball, makes millions in NIL, gets free tuition, and then turns his back on the university to go to Kentucky. And you expect people to root for him to do okay?

this isn’t even comparable. I’m not sure you can say defensive liability when one of them REFUSED to give any effort on the defensive end and wasn’t a good teammate because of it.
If you hate Audi, but justify Rocco and Milan, its either racial, sexist or a distain of a body shape. Theyre all the same turncoats for cash.

I will also say no matter where Milan decides to go, he’s not going to have the season he had last season. Nearly impossible to continue to shoot 50% from three two years in a row. Will he still be a 38-42% shooter from deep? Likely. I also see his PPG taking a bit of a hit too as Kentucky or St John’s have other guards who will ball hog and get their own.

No, people can feel however they want. You said part of you wants to root against him and that's fine. It's when people try to makes excuses that justify their feelings is when the BS comes in. Root against the guy, just fess up to being a petty a-hole if you do. He gave up a bunch of money to play here last year already. He's given more than he's taken from the program, and the ledger is more than even.

I think if people paid attention to that, maybe but I'm not sure they do now.
Fans do for bragging purposes, young players pay attention to the coach and the program. Older players that aren’t first round drafts, pay attention to the dollars. College athletics is all business now.

He also didn't show up when it mattered. Congrats to him when he hit some shots against Arizona at the end of the half, what else did he do. The past two NCAA tourneys he did nothing and we lost. All I'm saying is I won't be sad when he's being attacked by Kentucky fans when he doesn't show up in big moments.

Iowa State fans have been through the absolute worst and still supported this school and defended these players. So there's a part of me that hopes he absolutely fails at Kentucky. I'm not going to root for a player that chased the bag and makes 8 mil a year while he couldn't make a shot when it mattered in the tournament
I can assure you if you go back to the final Prohm year people were not defending the players...

Still trying to justify. You're being petty. Just own it. It's ok, sports fans are petty all the ******* time.

One of them was an All American. Milan's defense is bad enough he can't get drafted in a league where Niang lasted for a decade

Hell, Audi choked FAR less than Milan in the tournament.

Audi / Rocco / Milan: they're either all bag-chasing non-Cyclones or they're not. but you can't pick an choose because you hate women.
Three different players, three completely different scenarios!!

I’d certainly take the money. But I would also do so with the realization that I’ve burned the bridge back to Ames in the future. That’s the loss in all this transfer stuff. We’re losing the connection to players to come back in the future to be welcomed back as Cyclones.

And if I took the money and had a game scheduled in Hilton, I’d also expect to be booed and criticized for being a traitor. But that’s what comes with being a mercenary.
Y’all missing the point. College athletics is a business now. Tamin is the last of a kind. Everyone should expect that a player that just played for ISU could very well play for a conference opponent next year. You can boo them all you want, but loyalty is dead and gone.

I really loved seeing an ISU team gel over the years and getting to know players and seeing them develop and improve over their career. That **** is gone. Today’s game is winning the natty with all starting transfers. I hate it and it’s reality. The good news is that we’re clearly progressing as a society.

In the grand scheme of things, he won't be remembered as a Cyclone by anyone. But you can't hate him for chasing the money
Disagree about the Cyclone part. He will always be a Cyclone. He spent his first 3 formative years of collge ball in Ames. You can't take that away.

I can't blame him for trying to go NBA. Now he will try to pick a team to play with, make some $ with these stupid rules and prepare himself for the NBA in 1-2 years.

… or you are butt hurt, so you turn it into something it’s not.

If being petty on an athlete we gave a chance to and then leaves for money is why I can't root against him, that's literally going to be anyone at Iowa State, then yes. Name one player, coach, etc, that Iowa State hasn't identified as overlooked, just like Iowa State. We find the people overlooked and help elevate them, just like they do us. Milan should have gone to Wisconsin or Marquette, they performed really well.

In five years, I'll ask you about the top players from this year, once Milan is at Kentucky. You will remember Tamin, JJeff, and Nate.

Can you justify why you’re hating on a player (making money that they can) vs. hating on the manipulation of collegiate sports over the last 20-30 years by the likes of ESPN and FOX along with Big10 and SEC pressuring to gain advantages at the expense of the Big12, PAC-12 and ACC?

10 years ago Milan would have played at ISU his entire collegiate career.
