Milan Momcilovic tweets "entering NBA draft and portal"

Agree, but the implication of that is that not excelling in the focal point role at Iowa St shouldn’t factor in to the NBA decision

The NBA won’t penalize him much, if at all, if the focal point role is too much. On the flip side, he he shows potential in it, it may help
Maybe, but that's a hell of a risk to take if he would have a significant drop off next year at ISU. If he goes to a team loaded with studs and is the 3 point specialist on a team that wins the national championship it could raise his profile enough to be in a better draft position, and he's making twice as much money. It's hard to imagine him having a better year at ISU next year and raising his draft profile.

These two sentences don't make any sense. Any team that's willing to pay him 7M will be expecting him to be the primary scorer. It doesn't work any other way.
Maybe, maybe not. On any of the teams mentioned he’s going to be paid to stand on the perimeter and hit open threes and they’ll have other highly compensated guys creating those looks. At Iowa State he’d be forced to create on his own a lot more.

Realistically at a Kentucky, or the like, he’d be doing his future NBA role much more so.

NBA scouts consider what’s around a player and what they are asked to do. Case in point, Stirtz. He’s viewed as a 1st rounder with a role that might be as a bench shooter. All for a guy that shot like 35%. Because they knew he played a ton, was the focal point of the defensive game plan.

I'm sure this has been covered but I'm too lazy to find it. Why are people talking about a 2 year deal? What cause would he have for a 5th year? I can't keep up with the eligibility rules-- does he get an automatic 5th year now?

Milan has said he has no interest in playing 2 more, but that doesn't stop the pundits from blabbering on about it.

There is a 5 for 5 rule about to be implemented shortly. 5 years of eligibility for 5 years after high school. Essentially eliminates redshirting

If Milan comes back does he actually have to go to class or would he be more like Carson Beck who somehow managed to not take a class for 2 years. I know he hates that part of college. The school work.

It's fun that you think any of these kids are really going to class.

Tinsley quit going to class right after the first semester of his senior year. Enrolled in classes just to be eligible but he knew the rest of the classes would not count for his eligibilty.

Curious how the NBA feels about players staying in college longer? Isn't this sort of killing the G league? Not that the g league makes money or anything but college is now competing with the NBA for players and potentially the attention of fans.

Not only the G League, but you will end up seeing some players hang it up sooner given the early earnings. Think about a guy like Hoiberg who made $10 million over 10 years. He lived modestly, invested and was set before ever entertaining the idea of coaching. Now guys will have out earned 10 year NBA guys in less than 2 college seasons. Some will not want to endure the long-term grind and will be set for life at much younger ages.
