I think that's what continues to stick with me here. I'm sure NIL played a part in it, and even if we had the best culture in WBB there's a possibility these girls leave for financial reasons anyway. But there's no denying this program is broken. Horrible retention over the last 5 years and a lack of results relative to talent level. This isn't an NIL problem, as much as Bill wants to blame it on that.

You mean "have no money Iowa State way?" Bill has his weaknesses but seeing Audi making more 1.5x more than him is insane. Thanks to agents. Thanks to whatever you call this money-grubbing culture. Thanks to money over love of school. Audi is great but pretty much a tarnished used-to-be-Cyclone. If Fennelly gets blame there is plenty to shovel all around.

Audi making 1.5x Bill's salary is rightfully ridiculous. The girl that's averaging 26 a game should be making like 10x what the angry old man without a plan makes.
Just think about that for a second-- being aghast that the top scorer in the national who is on the court making the plays is outearning the coach, who, as best I can tell, does nothing more than scowl and randomly point at players on the bench to check in.

There was a locker room problem in recent years caused by a player. If you want some public evidence of that, as others have pointed out, none of her former teammates reposted or congratulated her when she announced where she was going (unlike what happened with everyone else). A less public piece of evidence, after the Maryland visit Brenda called Bill and was essentially dumbfounded, not in a good way.
Bill is ultimately responsible for handling personalities and egos, but that job couldn’t have been harder recently.

I must have missed this discussion entirely. Who shared this and what was reported? Did Audi misbehave on a Maryland visit? Skim or another reliable source? Or one of the local CBF apologists?
I don't know if they reposted it, but many of her teammates are in the comments of both her leaving announcement and OSU announcement post with words of encouragement.

Retention changed with NIL. The retention of the Iowa State program prior to this year was not bad at all. And the reasons are well discussed.
It is but that's basketball at any level. High, college, pros the best players always get what they want or they'll leave. Its a lose lose situation for coaches
