Can someone explain to me why teams are pitching to Nico with a runner at 3rd, less than 2 outs and 1st base is open?

I’ve seen that situation three times this season, I think, and Nico has gotten the job done each time. I don’t know why you don’t just put him on. I mean…the chances of him striking out in that spot have to be low. He’s at least making contact.

Even with a guy on second sometimes. It's wild.

I had this exact thought last night as well. I guess I can understand not wanting to put the winning run on base, but if you put him on first you open up the possibility of a double play or an increased likelihood of a strikeout. Just a bizarre choice.

I don't know but I hope they keeping doing it. I suspect eventually someone will smarten up and walk him.

Yah he has to tell him to slide there. But with no one on of course they were throwing home. Probably shouldn’t need Shaw to tell you to slide I guess.
agree with you and he would normally slide so I guess I don't see him complaining when it is simple baseball.

MO BALLER is lately the main reason

100%. Mo has the slug that Nico doesn't.

Kid is going to win multiple batting titles and still hit 30+.
He’s got a compact swing a little like Schwarber. Not quite the power but better contact rate. Who knows if he replaces some of that baby fat with more muscle he could have triple crown potential.
**** Ohtani!

PCA wasn’t happy with Shaw on that

Definitely thought PCA was ripping Shaw a new one last night on the broadcast but after seeing that again, I think he was more or less just telling him he's gotta be more demonstrative with his hands and yell "DOWN DOWN". Not that I think there's any clubhouse issues but definitely looks like he's yelling at him when I don't think that's actually what happened.

PCA was also a great teammate by taking all the blame on the radio interview right after the game

PCA has got to figure out how not to swing at balls. once his ABs get to 2 strikes they are over.
