Not possible today but how well Shaw looked at 3rd plus he played short in college. I’d like to see Hoerner stay at second when Dansby takes a day off. Hoerner is all world at second and Shaw has looked rough a few times on the right side of the infield.
Interesting idea. I''m in the move Hoerner to SS camp.
The way I look at it is 3rd and SS/2nd are two different skill sets. 3rd is more reaction and feel whereas SS/2nd are more technique-dependant.
Basically, if Shaw has a hard time handling 2nd, then I wouldn't put him at SS.
Short is much more like third than second. Third basically is short v. A lefty
Respectfully, I disagree. I understand they are on different sides of the infield, but 3rd is a different animal than SS/2nd

It’s a pretty simple formula. All these unproven and reclamation project’s relievers are doing the same thing. Attack the zone, the defense is really good.
A lot of guys play short in college, but aren't suited at MLB level. If Shaw is struggling at 2nd, he'd struggle a lot more at SS.
IMO if Dansby were put on IL, I'd promote Ramirez. Keep Hoerner at 2nd & Shaw in his utility role
Shaw struggled some today at 2B, but if Hoerner went on IL, Shaw would be a solid 2B. It would firm up with reps.
Definitely want to see Ramirez get some time at some point.
Palencia faced three batters gave up a hit and had a K with a 102 heater.
