It baffles me that a college like Stanford doesn’t have some rich donors that are into wrestling and that would donate to that team. I do agree I feel like some of this was about getting more money. I wonder if they were able to get accepted to graduate school then.

Well I will say that someone had to get KD to dabble into the portal because from what he’s said in comments he was against it too.
I highly doubt it. We need a 125 pounder, lol.
Hoping this big announcement stuff didn't hinder getting guys in the portal. I'm cautiously optimistic, though.
If we don't use the portal, in this day and age, we are going to be in trouble. I understand the want to build it traditionally, I just think that day is long gone.
Looking at the top teams.
PSU had 2 transfers in the NCAA finals.
Oklahoma state had 3 in their lineup at NCAA.
Nebraska had 2 AA transfers.
Iowa had 3 in their lineup at NCAA.
ISU probably needs 2-3 transfers to be a truly competitive team next year. Right in line with the other top teams.
it seems like the top teams today recruited all of their guys. Oklahoma state Penn state are the big ones.

One of our transfers was an AA lock if he doesn’t blow his knee out. No guarantee for the others but 2 of the other 3 were banged up and we likely don’t have a NQ at any of those weights without them.
I assume they're also paying those elite high school kids more than we can.
Yeah I didn't take Metcalf's comments as saying he's going to steer away from the portal. I'd say almost all coaches have the philosophy wanting to recruit, retain and develop the best high schoolers they can and mix in a few transfers each year as necessary/fit.
