Wrestling Press Conference Scheduled for Tomorrow

As excited as I am about this…

Does anyone else question why we need a CEO of wrestling when we are struggling to come up with funds to cover revenue sharing? Dresser makes a sizable salary to not coach.
I’m sure it’ll be similar to what the director of track/xc does. He oversees it all and still coaches. Plus he does a fantastic job bringing money into the athletic dept (NIL). So there’s added value by his fundraising abilities.

If Alli is the coach, I am sure he will help mentor her on how to be a head coach at the D1 level too. Metcalf has been in coaching for a while now, Alli has not, so it would make sense that he could be around to help her out with any questions she has while working on fundraising for the programs

Dresser will focus on fundraising, recruiting, getting the new women’s program up and running. His funding raising will more than cover his salary.

As far as the first part, the number of coaches is limited by the NCAA. I have just never heard of this role in wrestling before.

Good comments by you and others about fundraising. If he can raise more money than his salary than the department could raise without him, it makes more sense.

Penn State has a General Manager for wrestling - not exactly sure of the full job responsibilities but I know it includes NIL and fundraising.

And if his contract is only for 2-3 more years, I would imagine we don't rehire for his position once he's done, but who knows.

I did a super quick search and Michigan, Oklahoma and UNC all have Director of Wrestling Operations positions - I believe that is Mark Hall's title at OU

These people do not preside over their wrestling program as people are discussing with KD. These people work for the head coach and for KD it is (apparently) the other way around.

Robin is focused on day to day operations….lining up transportation, rooms, travel schedules, workout schedules, etc. The new position will docus on strategy, relationship building, fundraising, mentoring, etc. There is a big difference between the two.
I know that. I was responding to the person that said several other programs have a director of wrestling operations. Theirs is the same as ours is with Robin.
