Twister Sister Summary - Coaching Possibilities

Thibault-DuDonis could be a candidate at UGA who has parted ways with a former Fennelly assistant:

If they had a good relationship, maybe Bill should add Abrahamson-Henderson to his staff.

Introducing new ideas might be a fix to the underperforming issue. Also, it's not like she hasn't been successful. Could be an informal "coach in waiting".

She's 59 years old, so probably not receptive to an assistant coaching position and arguably too old to restart a program after CBF's departure. Harsh end for her at Georgia; 22-10 overall, 8-8 in the freaking SEC. She beat Vanderbilt and split with Ole Miss & Kentucky. No shame in losses to SC, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, etc., though some of them were rather lop-sided.

JP needs to cut ties with Bill and his coaching tree after next season.
So by that logic, all former players should be blacklisted from future coaching hires?

Abrahamson-Henderson last coached on Bill's staff in 2000, so I would expect her to have developed her own approach.

Yes, especially when no one from Bill’s tree has sustained success outside of Brenda Frese and she isn’t coming back to Ames and taking a big pay cut. Katie’s time has passed for the required ISU rebuild.

And it’s not like Bill had overwhelming enough success at ISU to justify a hire from his tree. The goal is to do better especially in light of the ongoing mass exodus and underachieving the past couple of seasons.

The economics also say we should never participate in bowl games. In FY 2024, it cost us $2,666,922 to go to a bowl game and we got back $1,646,269. We lost more than a million dollars.

We would never turn down a bowl game for that reason because there are just somethings you do as a big-time college program. Funding WBB to a competitive level is one of those things. That means Bill is likely to coach next season, but it also means JP isn't going to let the only women's program that has a decent following wither just to save a few bucks.
Is that with the travel allowance and the bowl leftover split?

Page 35 is the revenue from just our bowl game, pg 60-61 is how much it costs. We lose money on our individual bowl, but we do make good money from the conference going to bowls.

I am not entirely sure what portion of our bowl payout goes to the conference to be redistributed. So my initial statement might not be accurate.

The entire bowl payout goes to the conference for redistribution, outside the travel expense allotment.

The only thing that our financial report will show coming directly from the bowl, is the travel allotment, all other bowl payout is paid to the conference then redistributed among all members. So our initial travel costs may be more than that allotment, but in the end we make more by our bowl participation. But the entire conference including us loses money by refusing to attend bowls, especially those we have tie ins with. Our payout this year will take a significant hit due to multiple teams refusing bowl bids.

The whole bowl payout goes to the conference and the conference determines how much travel allowance each school gets for that bowl. Then they take all the leftover and split it among all the teams in the conference.

Lots of speculation about who might replace Fennelly IF he steps down. Here are a few ideas.

Bill will coach next year. Gone after that

Speaking of grad assistants, what's up with Ryan I wonder. She's been in Ames for six years now, next season will be seven years. Will she try and get an assistant job somewhere for next season?
For her sake, I hope so. I wouldn't mind a HC Ryan in the future, but I think she would be well served by getting some perspective from another program.

Why do people think she would be a good coach other than she was a Cyclone for five years? She was mostly this stoic personality that no one really knows. She's never spoken much and rarely showed any emotion. I'll admit to never much taking on a big liking for her.
