Twister Sister Summary - Coaching Possibilities

Cleveland State to Texas State seems like a surprising choice for one moving up the coaching ladder? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I followed her teams in the past and liked the style of play. It was not like what Bill has done the last few years. Also IMO it is tough to get players to come to Wyoming.
She is coaching for her job at Wyoming next season

I think the Horizon league to the PAC-12 is an upgrade and he would likely have more interest from high majors if he is successful there.
I'm a Chris K fan and didn't realize Texas State was joining the reconfigured Pac 12 - thanks for the info! I've never been to San Marcos, TX, but that's a good looking campus with a pretty sweet location between Austin & San Antonio. He should have an easier time recruiting kids to Texas than Cleveland, and I say that as one fond of suburban Cleveland, where my wife & I resided for four years when we were first married.

Somewhat related, potentially: Coach Schaben just changed her twitter account from "LadyCyclones" to "CoachSchaben" and unfollowed around 300 of her 500 follows. Those who were unfollowed include all current members of the coaching staff (not counting Bill, who isn't on social media anymore) and players on the 26-27 roster.
She's now refollowed many ISU-related accounts including current coaches/players, so I have no idea what's going on.

My dad moved to a nursing home in years backs. I came to visit one day and who was there but coach Sty. She found out where he was after he left Ames and on a recruiting trip stopped by to say hello. Not for press, not for clicks just a great person who came to see an old cyclone supporter she used to know.ISU basketball.jpg

I can completely understand her reasoning for retiring, but thought she would retire with Bill.

With Steyer and rumors of Latoja Schaben going to TXST, I wonder what is being set up?

With everything that has gone down with this ISUWB program the past month, I'll never believe that she made this decision a year ago that she was going to retire and not stick around for what was going to be Bill's final harrah, with a presumed three senior stars on the team, no friggin' way. Nevertheless, she was a major part of the program for many years and made great contributions, certainly wish her the best. Now we wait for the next domino to fall with the coaching staff.

She's not even 60. I would guess she was forced out so they can make Billy Associate Head coach and keep this the family business for the 30 years.
I'm not saying this didn't happen, but this is not giving any grace. She has her rule of 88 and a parent dying can be really hard on some people. I don't like Bill's coaching philosophy, but by most accounts he is a good person.

Besides it's not like having Billy step into the assistant HC role for one year gives him any more legitimacy with the fans or (hopefully) Jamie.

I think her husband is older and was retiring so that was likely a big part of her decision. She also seems "old school" so the NIL/Transfer Portal may have played into the decision.

I am guessing open discussions throughout. They probably knew Bill's plan of possibly next year being done, and also knew they weren't going to be the head coach, so exit plan a year early and now hopefully name a Coach in Waiting. I would hope not Billy, but if it is. Let's just get it out there.
