A coach turning down an interview with North Carolina because he wants to stay in Iowa? Wow, what a world we're living in now.
Especially today. Buyouts being larger Is much bigger ask in today's landscape with revenue sharing.People consistently overestimate in general how much P5 to P5 movement there is. The top schools will always take swings but still quite often end up with some lower level coach or high major assistant (or in this case, a guy who has never been a college HC at all).
Interesting events occurring at the UofA now that Tommy Lloyd has signed his contract extension rejecting overtures from UNC.
As reported Sunday in the Arizona Daily Star, the new contract gives Lloyd more control over the financial support for his roster budget. UofA's president, Suresh Garimella will now have a more direct role in working with Lloyd on his program's finances.
This all sounded very similar to the comments made following TJ's revised contract.
Lloyd also said he wants his program to be a locomotive with everyone at the school pushing in the same direction.
In Monday's paper, it was revealed that Tommy Lloyd will report directly to UofA's president, rather than Athletic Director Desiree Reed-Francois. Obviously Lloyd and the AD did not see eye to eye. This also sounds similar to reported conflicts between TJ and Campbell vs. Pollard.
Arizona's AD has been on the job for two years, she inherited a $75M debt from the previous AD and by all accounts has eliminated it. She has been good at developing new sources of income for the athletic department, but now she may be on thin ice.
Didn’t she just just basically write off the debt?

Are you thinking of ASU’s massive write off?Didn’t she just just basically write off the debt?
What?Is this pretty much the end of P4 job openings unless something surprising happens? Didn't seem like many this year.
And Rivers’ championship was because of asst coach Thibodeau’s defense.Agreed on this he has almost no experience recruiting and his best time in the NBA was with the best player on the planet. That same player that wasn’t sad to see him depart.
No real ties to the university and when no other NBA team wants a championship winning coach that’s a really bad sign. Hell the NBA loves hiring doc rivers over and over just to fail based on one championship
Ok fine but most years feels like more. Georgia Tech, Boston college seem open every other year so didn't even think about those 2.What?
