Read everything Jamie Pollard said in his statement regarding both basketball programs

Do I need to make it simpler for those of you who process more slowly and are living in the last decade? Your response may take the cake for dumb!

This happens all the time to CEOs. They may have made a company 100's of millions, but the minute they look stagnant, out the door they get thrown. The same thing happens to coaches.

It's incredibly naive to be happy when your leadership says, " It could be worse." Real leadership is trying to get ahead of the rest of the pack no matter what hand you are dealt.

Yormark is a great example of this. The Big 12 may have less to work with, but he keeps up as best he can. I've never once heard him try to make the excuse, " It could be worse, or at least we are better off than XYZ". These kinds of answers are totally unacceptable from the leader of a 100+ million dollar entertainment enterprise like a college athletic department.
This is dumb.

He had to get out there and say something, he has posted videos in the past to keep the fan base informed, nothing wrong with his last video. You may not like the message or what he is saying, but he had to go public and do something.

He hates JP, he can feel that way but posters like him go out of their way to hate him. Nothing will change that in their mind.

I guess I struggle to see what some of the people complaining about Pollard really expect from the AD. Our teams are competitive across the board in all the sports that matter. Our facilities are up to date, not sure what more theses people want. ISU does not have the money to start firing coaches left and right, has Bill stuck around too long as a head coach, most likely, but after 30 years of coaching and where he has taken the program I figure he deserves a little leeway here. What more do these people want Pollard to do that he is not already doing?

JP can come across as petty and whiny. That's the only thing I can think of, otherwise he has been fantastic.

I think of him as sounding defensive, but petty/whiny is probably part of that in the mix. I agree a majority of what he has accomplished is high level.

Occasionally, I think he has been too quick to offer coach contract extensions (or made them too lengthy). Sometimes it has been warranted and worth it, others it made it more $$ difficult to make a change.

I can't think of a single contact extension that he offered that was not clamored for before hand by fans on here. Maybe there was one for Prohm? I think he reworked Campbell's deal three times.

I probably was "retrospectively harsh" with my statement. Rhoads' extension seemed to make sense and was supported at the time, but when it started to slide it's easy to second-guess.

I think the Prohm extension got support, but some were critical of it and many already didn't think he was going to succeed long-term. Seems like he got it immediately after winning B12 tournament in 2019, but don't quote me.

I'm going a lot by memory here.
