Audi Crooks to Transfer

It's so interesting to see people compare Otz to Fennelly in terms of "building a roster of humble hardworking players." It may be that age is a factor. TJ is much closer to the age of his players than Bill is. I do respect Bill, but his style of coaching and method of building/developing a roster may be outdated at this point.

I get a chuckle when TJ's players, refer to him as TJ. No Coach included. I only recall WBB players using Coach ....

Different generation of coach. IMO it's important the next ISU WBB coach be relatable to players and be a women.

Honestly, I think it reveals Jamie's intention for NIL. Football and basketball are the money makers and will get as much support as they can afford to give them. Everything else is going to be supported like it was before NIL, but not much more. Those programs will have to do the best that they can with the support that they can individually generate.
Keep in mind the Football, and Men’s Basketball and Wrestling - the coaches are actively out promoting/searching for NIL deals for their program and players.

And for all that they were able to eek out the win against FDU.
Hate defending EIU but they were a 2 seed and 2nd in their conference. The tournament is always a crap shoot, but they put themselves into position to do good things and under achieved in the tournament. What did we do, started out great, got injuries and dropped like a rock.

I'm sorry but I don't buy the tid bit that some of the women felt entitled. Fennelly appears like the one who believes HE is entitled. He lost the locker room due to his coaching style, favoritism, loyalty to his son and other assistants. And now we're stuck another year. $$$$ Thanks CBF
This is the most accurate post I've seen yet. Thanks for this (And the nepotism runs deep at Iowa State)

With AC leaving, IMO, the root problem appears to have moved from possible concerns within the team - such as jealousy of her getting all of the attention both on and off the court - to other, maybe cementing what others have generously suggested - coaching problems ???? One thing that has always greatly disturbed me - when a player exits the court for any reason, CBF never greets, looks, or other at them. Instead, he looks past them to the court, leaving whatever needs to be said to the assistant coaches. Whether they need correction or a pat on the back, this is BS!!!

IMO Audi is looking at getting a big chunk of cash. Life changing money. This is her chance. Can’t blame her. The others are looking at better money or opportunities. Pollard has more or less said Bill is coaching this next year.

The tournament is not "always a crap shoot" for top seeded wbb teams.

You do realize we were a trophy team just 2 years ago. 4th in 2024.
Wrestling/Dresser also raises a lot of money to support the program. Wrestling loses 1/3 of what women's basketball loses each year and the coaches don't even come close to making what CBF makes combined.

The point is simply that you can’t say “WBB is an extremely top heavy sport we can’t actually compete in so who cares?”, when it’s literally the exact same thing on the wrestling side.

Yeah they got 4th 2 years ago. That was the first time in the top 10 in 15 years.

4th out of ~75 is pretty good, top 5% of teams.

WBB finished #10 in 22 and the sweet 16. 10 out of ~350, pretty good, top 3% of teams.

You’re the one saying it! You’ve been making the “kids now won’t do this” when we have MANY examples on the men’s side under TJ.

I’m just saying you’re trying to give Bill a free pass here by blaming the kids.
That is his shtick. Defend Bill at all costs.
Sunshine and rainbows.

I may be wring now but at one point wrestling’s NIL came from a fund that is separate from the funds any other sport pulls from. So basically wrestling fans support the NIL wrestlers receive. Too bad other non revenue generating sports don’t do the same.

I problem is that pits sports against sports for donors money. FB, MBB and WBB coaches all go ask the same donor for money and competing for that money is not going to be healthy for the AD as a whole.

They have been top 4 once in my son’s lifetime and he’ll be getting his license this summer.
It's worse than I thought, but we have finished in the top 8 2/3 years and Dresser finally has his footing. I don't think we will dominate the sport, but competing for trophy every few years is definitely doable.

True but both schools have lost as a 2 or 3 seed in recent memory on the mens side. One bad game in the tournament you go home, no matter how talented you are as a team. The talent pool in WBB is not as spread out as in the mens game, 3 seed Ohio State also lost in the same round. Maybe they were both over rated, but you have to play well to advance.

Yep you only have to look over to Iowa City and see what can happen when you start spending more money on a program like they have done with their WBB team. Get the once in a generation player and then start pumping money into the program, winning brings out the fans and the donations start to roll in. Once the player that cause it all leaves, then continue to support the program with higher NIL and bring in the replacements that are higher skilled those most of the players out on the floor before.
So the one thing you need to do win, is the one thing ISU does not have, MONEY.

Oh yeah mighty Iowa wbb, the team that lost to ISU and lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA tourny on their home floor. Hopefully they do keep wasting money pumping it into WBB with the false dream that they will be a powerhouse.

I’ll just say my source has first hand experience.
No questioning you specifically. I apologize because it did sound that way. My comment was simply meant to apply to any of an endless amount of rumors and speculation that show up here. Sorry.

The coaches themselves or does each sport have a GM type person charged with this? Seems like the athletic dept could use a dedicated person with specific expertise.
