WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

I'm surly when it comes to Hare as she was hand-picked to supplant my favorite Kelsey Joens, but she has to be one of the most disappointing transfers in the past decade:

2023 - Marquette - 31 GS / 32 GP - 14PTS - 45.5% - 2.1 RBS - 2.4 AST - 1.2 STL - 75.7% FT
2025 - Iowa State - 31 GS / 32 GP - 6 PTS - 40.5% - 2.5 RBS - 0.7 AST - 0.8 STL - 48.5% FT
There's no defense for that brutal stat line - could Tanke or Jensen have been worse?

The corner 3 to beat KU as time expired was the highwater mark of her season, after which my primary memories of her are uncontested missed layups, untimely missed free throws and giving up myriad uncontested three point shots.

In our NCAA loss to Syracuse, KH played 23 minutes with 0 PTS (0-7), 0 RBS and 3 Fouls.

I guess I'm 180 degrees opposite of you. I hope she re-finds her game somewhere else next season and we sign the next Hannah Belanger out of Division II.
Letting Kelsey go was a modest size mistake.
In Villanova’s ncaa tournament game she was 4-6 from 3 with 14 points in 28 minutes. Her stats were similar at Villanova as at Iowa State. 83% FT and 37% 3 point % - with great hustle plays (as Hare often had as well).

Kelsey was the perfect type of 3 point shooter to pair with Audi.

Hare never got back to her Marquette level stats after her hip? surgery.

At this point basically letting anyone go is a mistake.

Kelsey Joens was such an odd/confusing situation. Played her ass off when she was in and played pretty well, 40% three-point shooters don't grow on trees. Seemed to want to be here / stay here. I'm surprised her ISU stats say she played nearly 20 minutes/game, didn't seem like it.

I feel bad for AJ. She's a Cyclone to the bone and is going to be forced to either leave and play for another team or stay and play for what'll likely be a really bad team for her senior year.

Why would she be forced to leave?

Few things. Hare was disappointing, we'll see if Hare was held back by ISU's system or recovery from hip injury next year.

Tanke & Jensen showed very little when given the opportunity this year. Tanke had a solid game against CU, but didn't really follow that up. The reality is, she doesn't have the athleticism to play P4 hoops and not sure about high level group 6.

Lastly, I feel the abilities between Kelsey & Kenzie on the offensive end are very similar. They are basically JUST 3 point shooters. Not going to get many paint points or assists. My guess is CBF favored Kenzie because of her defense and was hoping for upside coming off injury.

The reality is CBF might have done Kelsey a favor because she's at a very solid Big East school and starting.

Also reminded of the posters who say we should let Bill ride out his contract because "it can get so much worse." I guess they're right: we could have 0 players on April 1 instead of 2 players...
If some donor would completely fund Bill's +$700K buyout, then you might have a legit argument against riding out his contract. Even then, might be difficult for JP to force Bill out if Bill truly wants to coach one more season.

I still feel like Bill wanted to rid himself of the Joens' dad from the stands!

My understanding is that KJ wanted to stay and CBF told her there wasn't a spot for her on the roster.

I really REALLY question our S&C and nutrition plans.....I hate to say it as it sounds very mean but it looks like our girls have gotten quite bigger and it's not lean muscle

What's there to coach? It's not like he has his full roster of seniors that he'd like to see play one last season and graduate. Over half of them are gone including our best all-around player.

I've never heard a negative word from anyone about any of the Joens sisters but have heard numerous times the father is a handful.

I feel for AJ, by all account she bleeds Cardinal and Gold, is a very kind person, and is obviously smart with her earning scholar athlete of the year in the Big 12. I hope she can still have a season to be proud of next year.
She has more going on right now than this. Her high school coach (good friend of mine) died suddenly a few days ago.
