**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

Ugh, I guess. How many more 6'3 guards do we need? The history of TJ shows he only plays 8 guys a game. If who we expect to return, return that means (6 already not including freshman)

Buchanan/Pleta
Momcilovic
Bateman
Toure/Williams

With the biggest toss-up returner being Momcilovic we better focus on a PF starter and a 6'6+ Wing guy.
Sure, I'll take Carson if he wants to be here and I'd fully trust him next year more than the incoming freshman, but this one doesn't move the needle much
I agree biggest need is an athletic/physical wing. But the 2nd biggest need is a PG. So Carson would be an awesome get and let's staff focus on an athletic/physical wing.

After Toure we don't have a proven lead guard on the roster. Maybe Mason Williams, but maybe the staff sees him more as combo guard. Maybe Gray, but I'd never count on a freshman. So Carson would be big.

Disagree
We need a tradional 4, not a wing. We need a guy that can board and score near the rim. The Tennessee game further highlighted this need.

We might be saying the same thing. If Buchanon, Pleta and Rinaldo-Komlan are all on next year's roster then be have our low post scorer, rebounder and in Rinaldo-Komlan a rim protector.

So in Iowa States offense, guys like Jefferson & Momcilovic are wings/stretch players. So in a wing, I'm looking for a Hogue, Clyburn, Ejim type. Athletic, solid rebounder, dribble/drive and shoot wing/baseline 3s.

Not in the portal, but why not take a flyer on another Heise? Just saw a pic after the sweet 16 game of the family and I was like who is that monster?
Ryan Heise- Nate's younger brother is 6'10 and plays at Winona St. Led team in scoring and shoots pretty good from deep for his size

Plus, his sister can come to the games. ;)

I think Dorian Ronaldo-Kolman is going to surprise people next year. He is ultra athletic. He may be able to play the four because he may be able to guard multiple positions. Not sure how our offense looks next year without Jefferson playing the 4.
Looks athletic but needs to add weight. Pretty good driver but it's all going to his left and not outside shots seen in the videos, so offense is going to be limited. Can definitely jump/run.

With Jefferson and lipsey gone we are gonna have a lot of money to spend
All depends on what it takes to keep Toure, Batemon, Pleta. Plus if Momcilovic comes back does his number go up.

And if market is up, does that impact Buchanon?

One would hope coaches, teammates, school would help it not only be about money. But we are also talking 18-22 year olds and pretty big $.

Would love to see rev share/NIL figures like is available for pro athletes.

Am I stupid for thinking Milan isn’t that bad defensively? He isn’t elite but considering he isn’t the most athletic he seems to do fine idk
He's improved a lot. But at the 3 he's asked to guard smaller/quicker players.

Plus, since ISU tends to switch 1-4/5 opposing coaches will run their high screen action to get one of their top scorers against Momcilovic (or Jefferson). So that's a tough guard for any 6'8" kid.

That's where having a rim protector is nice.
