The ncaa tournament should show everyone that you need two bigs on the floor. Purdue, Tennessee, Arizona, Michigan and several more. There are times when Milan can play the 4 but we have to have an alternative lineup with 6'10" or the abouts to compete inside and on the boards. Another note- Pleta shot 33% from 3 in Germany. He may help with that at times.I would imagine sans transfers it will look like this. I think if you get a stretch 4 who can shoot the three, they would start at the 4 and move Williams to the 6th man role:
1: Toure
2: Batemon
3: Williams
4: Milan
5: Buchanan
6: Pleta
7: Wiggins
8: Gray
9: DKR/Kiss
I think Williams starts over Bateman. Also, Mitchell will surprise everyone and start over Pleta. Pleta needs more skill and development before he plays 20 plus minutes.Whar scoring? Need 2 more scorer’s.
That out a hook shot from 10 for or lessPleta is a big from Europe, which automatically means he can shoot the three. I'm joking, but in all seriousness it would be nice if he could develop a pick-and-pop out 16-17 feet.
BumpI don’t know if he will be in the portal and I have no idea if there are ISU connections, but I really like what I saw from 6’9” 251# sophomore forward Hank Alvey who plays at Lehigh. He looked really good in the game I watched a few weeks ago. Looks like the sort of stretch 4 help that would be of help to the Cyclones next .season.
I also like Lehigh’s jr pg Nasir Witlock, originally from Minnesota.
I think he'll be a Hasan Ward type player. Probably want to keep him at the 5, but with Buchanan and Pleta maybe they play him some at the 4I think Dorian Ronaldo-Kolman is going to surprise people next year. He is ultra athletic. He may be able to play the four because he may be able to guard multiple positions. Not sure how our offense looks next year without Jefferson playing the 4.
If Pleta and Buchanan play together for more than 2 min a game we win maybe 5 gamesStart Toure, Momcilovic, Komlan, Pleta and Buchanan.
Swap out Toure for Kiss. OWN. THE. GLASS.If Pleta and Buchanan play together for more than 2 min a game we win maybe 5 games
They should rotate at center, same as this year. We need a good PF to replace Jefferson. If Pleta and Buchanan play together for more than 2 min a game we win maybe 5 games
Would say heck yes on Alvey, but appears he's stayingBump
If y'all need a reminder, this is what we have as a 2nd ball handler next year. Its basically like getting a good transfer portal guard this year with 2 remaining of eligibility
This. I don't know how one would go about accomplishing this, but Buchanan needs to spin a cocoon and emerge next fall as an Oscar Cluff clone. I mean, I'd miss that gorgeous hair, but ISU needs that kind of aggressiveness in rebounding and scoring from the big guys. The ncaa tournament should show everyone that you need two bigs on the floor. If this years draft class wasn’t so damn deep draft might be more appealing but as a lot of people have pointed out he has limitations that he needs to work on. He will also get some insane offers from blue bloods so we will see what happens but he owes us nothing. Wish he would of played better in tourneys for us but otherwise this season was great for himHe told a reporter from another board it's either NBA draft or back at ISU. If he is in college next year it will be with us.
Am I stupid for thinking Milan isn’t that bad defensively? He isn’t elite but considering he isn’t the most athletic he seems to do fine idkMilan gets picked on defensively and needs to be better on the boards but he might have been the most improved player from the year before. He will really need someone around him who can take some pressure off of him but he'll be the centerpiece for next year.
Toure, Batemon, Buchanan, Milan and Pleta would be a really nice core. Need to bring a transfer who can create their own shot, a stretch 4 type would be nice but if it's a guard, so be it, just go get the best scorer you can find. Then hope to hit on at least two of the frosh and we're back in business. We'll likely be TJ's youngest team he's had at ISU, that could mean taking some lumps and a bit of a step back from this year but with the right transfer or two, the roster is ready to roll again.
Same holds true on offense, he's usually beyond the 3-pt line.Had you noticed he is guarding a 3 most of the time? It is a lot harder to get to the boards when you are 15 to 18 feet from the basket.
Seems to me that the Euro guys are more ready to play when they come overseas? Both Toure and Pleta were in the rotation and around the country Euro guys were making an immediate impact like Kharchenkov at AZ and Mirkovic at Illini but maybe that’s because they come over at age 20 and 21 lolI think Dorian Ronaldo-Kolman is going to surprise people next year. He is ultra athletic. He may be able to play the four because he may be able to guard multiple positions. Not sure how our offense looks next year without Jefferson playing the 4.
