Alabama of all teams…a football school who has made 4 straight sweet 16s. Should we be throwing a fit about that and trying to trivialize it?

So would they, I’d suppose… that best conference thing is just for fans trying to convince themselves how good they are all the time. Both conferences were very good. I would say you could put Illinois, Houston, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Iowa State, Arizona, and Illinois on a basket and pick they are all very good….
My uncle and Iowa State, Alam, and fan and still actively involved with the university told me the other day he thought Michigan was the best team in the country. I think it’s Arizona.

I’m not sure what I’m gonna do about the Iowa game. I may watch it. I may not…. (Watched 3 minutes last game) I’m a much bigger Iowa football and women’s basketball fan now then I am a men’s fan, but I can probably watch that game without any real anxiety because in all seriousness…
And I know that it doesn’t jive with the crazies in Iowa State or Iowas fan base who are convinced you have to hate your rival, but I’m not going to be all that upset if Fred Hoiberg & Nebraska make it to the elite eight. It’s at least as good a story as Iowa making, it if not better.
Sports became quite a bit more enjoyable for me when I quit hate watching things like many of these fan bases do.

Purdue sucks and of course you hate the Big 10…it’s what people who drink the Kool-Aid do
But really, is that worse than a TURNCOAT Big XII team that is now $EC? And Purdue is not the richest athletic department in the country. More akin to ISU as an AG/Engineering school.
And lastly, their fans are not complete dooooshes.
They never wanted it to be the BigXII, anyway. They wanted to control everything and got their way entirely too often.
The only people who ever convinced me to hate Iowa were its fans.

See I live out of state. It’s super easy for me to root for Iowa State until I stumble across some of their nut job fans. You nailed it perfectly.
Yes, always & both ways. The problem is, like women/wives, they have a tendency's to always think it’s “the other side” But after witnessing the crash out after the U of I made the sweet 16, I was dumbfounded. I had no clue the obsession and hatred was still that strong….
Seems pretty stupid to a guy that’s lived out of state for 30 years and genuinely has rooted for Iowa State for many many many years…
But hey, you gotta be you… if hate watching your rival is a big thing then you should do it
