*** Official Tennessee State vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

No need to return Jefferson today but there’s a zero chance he comes back. His career at Iowa state is done. That ankle turn was horrid
I understand the temptation to say this…to cope with what you assume is worst case scenario, but I’ve seen ankle turns that looked bad that didn’t lead to what you’re assuming. I’m not saying he’s not done, but we need to wait and see. X-ray results will obviously tell us a lot. Then we can see if they can work on him or not.

Depends on the fracture. You need to control the inflammation for several reasons but mainly to help with immobilization. Also not all fractures need to be “set” especially if it’s just a hairline fracture.

Not putting weight on it and then controlling for inflammation/pain are the same treatment course for most sprains and fractures this early on.
Did you see the injury? Curious your thoughts as a doctor on the likelihood he'll be able to play in two days.

Yeah not putting weight on it was the worrisome part. Just trying to make sense of what it could be and how they’re treating it.

And a little denial :D

Great game so far, majorly concerned about Jefferson.
Why are we such a poor free throw shooting team? Lipsey and Heise just no excuse for being below 70%.

IANAD - do they typically ice for suspected broken bones?
Seems like a waste when you’d need to get it set as quickly as possible.

When I twisted mine bad when I was young, they iced it down to improved the swelling so they could see if it was broken. Then again I didn't have a machine on hand to check that quit so it swelled really bad before I got to the hospital

The one silver lining we might be able to take away from JJ not being on the floor is that the ball movement might be better. The offense got bogged down at times with him because he dominated the ball sometimes. Of course there are many negatives because he does so much but just trying to see a potential positive.

Laughing at all the gamesmanship thoughts vs Kentucky. Probably true but when I watch Kentucky they look like Pope and a bunch guys that just met like 5 minutes before tipoff and have never practiced together.

It's just odd the similarities with 2014. Foot injury to key player in first round followed by playing a national blue blood in the second round. Hopefully they can find a way to beat Kentucky like how the 2014 team beat North Carolina

Today isn't over any any means.

TSU will start to hit threes after half and I predict make this more interesting while ISU tries to keep the wheels on just long enough.
