Ashley Okland Murder

I live in Norwalk and the Forsyth murders are pretty big. For some reason though not a lot of people know about the Forsyth murders.
That dude was a crazy POS. He was my bus driver and I saw him pick a kid up by his jacket and throw him off the bus.

Was driving home from Minnesota when it came across the radio. Everyone in the car was just stunned and not sure if anyone talked the rest of the car ride home.

I’m also assuming an Assistant AG will try the case rather than the Dallas County Attorney. So the AG’s office would have signed off on it as well- they’re not going to sign off on it unless they can prove the case.
According to the Dallas County Attorney who spoke at the presser, the case will be tried by him, the Assistant AG, and an Assistant Dallas County Attorney.

Gosh's mom did a really good job of making it a big deal in the media and just pounding the ground. Martin's family kind of stayed away from the spotlight for the most part. I think his dad was a lot older if I am not mistaken. Noreen took every single opportunity to spread the word.
Still at it. She hosts a Fascinating FB page. In the past couple weeks someone wrote a book claiming it contained stories written by Johnny, Eugene and Marc Allen. Alleges all kidnapped into pedo and escaped as adults and living in hiding. Noreen wrote to forward and later distanced herself from it. But people believing it bc it’s in writing. Noreen maintains Johnny is very much alive and in hiding.

The Bill and Kay Wood case still bothers me too.

(I have spent a lot of time on the Iowa Cold Case site)

I am friends with Bill's Son Bill. Went to school with him since we were kids. That one is super bizarre. I knew both Bill Sr and Kay and had been at their house many times. I still drive by it all the time where the old house used to stand. I am not saying the cops didn't do their job, I will say I think they didn't investigate it long enough.

Strange story. I actually have a friend that played Eugene Martin on Unsolved mysteries when they filmed that episode back in the 80's. He looked exactly like him.
I used to work with a guy in DM that grew up with Eugene and his brother. I worked with him the same time I was living within a block of 42nd and Marquardt Lane where Johnny Gosch was kidnapped just off of 235. Small world. There was also a 3rd paper boy named Marc Allen that disappeared in 1986 which is way less publicized than the other 2. Unfortunately the highly publicized cases in the Iowa's history where there is no body will likely never be solved. There just isn't anything there to be tested.

Hopefully the Evansdale girls case has a similar outcome soon.
Im optimistic they know who did it and are just waiting for certain DNA technologies to exist. You only get one shot to prosecute people. We are getting to the point where they can pull your DNA profile from almost just physically breathing at a crime scene from what was once a faint bit of moisture that only a specialized tool can detect. They are taking second looks at crime scene evidence that could only pull up a small genetic profile of someone 5 years ago and pinpointing them now. Body oils, microscopic skins flakes compared to blood, saliva, etc .. The main difference from even 5 years ago is that it was hard to pull DNA from anything that was degraded in any way. That's not the case anymore.

Just has the feel of some kind of jilted lover type scenario, but it's odd that it would take 15 years to solve that. My guess is that they've suspected this woman for years but didn't have anything beyond motive. Either some new DNA evidence or her slipping up in some manner must have given them what they needed.
I think it will end up being more senseless than that actually. Probably more like they had had some disagreements over some personal business dealings and the murderer wasn't real fond of the success the young hot shot realtor was having. I mean do you really think some dude was torn between the 2 of them? I just seriously doubt that.

Dont under estimate how crazy some women are.

Agreed, but I mean it's just HIGHLY unlikely in this case they were involved with the same man. You have a bombshell realtor at 27 and the 38 year old who looks like she hang's out at Denny Arthur's? Its gotta be a professional/jealousy/monetary thing. I do assume the police have suspected her for most of the last 15 years though. Just lacked physical evidence until recently to present this to a grand jury.

I’ve heard stories that Kay’s children are hiding her

I'm just glad there is no chance I'll be on jury duty for this one. Got called to the Preston Walls jury selection a few years ago and it was honestly intimidating, exhausting, and expensive(due to missing days of work). It took me being on the stand twice during jury selection alone to convince them I couldn't be a impartial juror. You go in the court room, take the stand, and literally the defense team(including the defendent), the prosecutors, and the media is there. I told them over and over that the pre-trial coverage had already swayed my decision. Somehow I still made like 3 cuts. It was weird. I had no idea that what jury selection for a major case was like.
