he literally said 'i'm not against kids making money'.
he's absolutely right about it not being sustainable in the long run.
They will probably have to bring in a back-up guy. Don't see his voice lasting having to call 4 games in 1 day.
Prolly the wrong thread but at some point don't the heavy donors stop the huge cash flow if the teams don't win?
He has brought it up twice now. He obviously doesn’t want to get called out for his stance, but his stance is against NIL.
And his… “be good at your craft and you will eventually get paid for it” line is BS. There is zero certainty of that. These kids are making life changing money. Not all of them are headed to the NBA. Making $100k and being able to buy a house or invest it early in your 20s is a ridiculous head start in life.
He’s right. Making money is one thing. Generational wealth playing college ball is another. Isn’t Dybantsa making $7M? Ridiculous. Let kids go to the nba out of HS and let them get paid there. I would have lived like a king in college with free tuition and an extra $20k in my pocket.
I get that we have to play the game to be competitive, but the rules are stupid and donors have gotten out of hand.
You want to know what isn’t sustainable Charles. The SEC and Big 10 in an arms race to continually drive up the cost for everyone else. Greed at the very top is not sustainable. How about you talk about that.
The difference is that several years ago the really good college players who couldn't quite make an NBA roster could only look forward to earning $40-45k in the G League. Now these players are earning hundreds of thousands (of not millions) while still in college.
