***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

It'll never happen, because of network $, but I would prefer your idea. At least reduce the # and move tip time up a little. For sure I can't see Big Ten (or CBS) giving up its "prime slot," but making it 2 p.m. ET start time seems more sensible.
It annoys the fans of the teams playing in it as well as the game rarely seems to make an impact on the bracket compared to the earlier games even though it’s usually a highly ranked matchup. Not that the other tourny games move the needle a ton but still

The article talks about the potential impact of McDonald's All Americans or NBA level talent on winning the tournament. The quote is from the article.

"The Cyclones (+2200) are the only team in the top 10 of the betting odds without a McDonald’s All-American. They do, however, have a pair of borderline first-round picks in Joshua Jefferson and Tamin Lipsey — both currently high second-round selections in Vecenie’s latest mock draft."

The incessant lobbying by Auburn is embarrassing... Goodness, read the room.

Going to sit down and watch the SEC Championship game. Might have lucked out with Bilas & Shulman announcing instead of Jimmy Dykes. Was prepared to turn off game if it was going to be a ESPN promo for Texas, Auburn and Oklahoma to make Tournament.

I get that Auburn, OU, etc. have strong SOS. I get they might have a couple good wins. But based on their records, they also have a lot of BAD losses and are wildly inconsistent. Something their coaches and SEC pundits forget. Being an NCAA Tournament team isn't earned by under-performing based on your talent or name on front of jersey!

Arguing that Auburn, OU, Indiana, etc. are Tournament teams would be like TJ or Fran Fraschilla arguing Iowa State should be a #1 seed because the Clones are undefeated in our wins!

The committee says they use seven metrics. Supposedly three more than the other four. Anybody have the specifics on this?
We are very solid at 2 seed on bracket matrix. out of 125 brackets, we are a #2 in 120, #3 in 4 and #4 in 1 for 2.05 average (#7 overall). #8 overall (Mich State) is at 2.26.

Exact same situation for Fran and Iowa in their conference tourneys.

I thought you're supposed to just throw up a wild shot and hope for a foul? That's what basketball Einstein drew up.
