***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

I thought Virginia would be a 2 seed with a W over Duke. Now I'm not sure who will get the final 2 seed.... probably either Michigan State or Virginia.

Duke
Arizona
Michigan
Houston
Florida
Iowa State
UConn

The committee says they use seven metrics. Supposedly three more than the other four. Anybody have the specifics on this?
CBS reporters joined the committee the week of the top 16 reveal. They said they basically don’t use the NET or KenPom but heavily use WAB.

Michigan seems to win a lot of close games. Do they have a knack to win those situations or are they using up all of their "luck" factor?

I know they are good but it seems to me there is a component of luck when it gets to the Tourney. I feel like they have used quite a bit of it already. I will not have them in the NC game because of this.
I feel ‘being lucky’ is misapplied for team sports. It implies something skillful happened when the person doing it isn’t skilled enough to achieve the outcome.

Michigan is skilled team they’re not getting lucky, they’re putting themselves in position to win multiple times.

That said I do think you can run into ‘luck’ with individual actions in things like darts or bags where a clearly unskilled or lesser skilled person over-performs.

They head of the committee said WAB is important, moreso for teams getting into the tournament.

WAB probably isn't going to matter for the placement of the top 16 teams. I mean, how would that even work - we'd all have high WABS. We'd have to - most of us were locks for the tournament months ago.
