***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

My feeling is that we have a couple of absolutely lock down defenders. I’m more worried about the mid major that spreads the ball around and runs crisp sets than a team that relies on just one or two scorers.

Mid majors just aren’t what they used to be. Not saying it’s not a concern, but those teams starting 4 seniors who played together that whole time is over.

OK, let's get this started. Who do we not want to see in our bracket? I'm feeling like Wisconsin is one? Bama?
After tonight, I fear nobody. They should be fearing us. Who want to play a high pressure defense with a highly efficient offense where 7 players can score 10+ on any night while also having the best shooter in the country

Fear the Storm

I don't think so. The B10 champ result won't be known until Sunday. The bracket will be locked down before that. Plus there's no way Purdue moves ahead of ISU.
Hope you're right, couple of articles I just read seem to think it might be Purdue vs ISU, might have been before MSU lost.

Here's one

Wouldn't it be better for us to be the 3 seed in the Midwest instead of the 2 seed in the East? Ship Illinois to the East and we will take over St.Louis.

Illinois was 5th in NET entering the day. Sparty was 11th. Sparty had the worse loss today. I dont see Mich St above Illinois at all.
Illinois is 16 in WAB now and MSU is 10 (right behind Iowa State). The committee has emphasize that they are putting more of a focus on WAB - probably due to teams manipulating the NET. Will be interesting how it plays out.

Yesterday went about as well as it possibly could have for us short of winning the game. As we're all pretty well aware the last two 2 seeds can go to ISU, ILL, and/or MSU. If you use NET as a sorting tool for those three teams we should have the edge on ILL. Using NET for us against MSU things are pretty even, it would just depend on whether a Q1 win outweighs a Q2 loss. The good thing is that most of the predictive metrics like us a lot more than MSU. All in all the data seems to be pointing towards the number 7 overall seed for ISU.

I know some people are starting to worry more about Purdue. Coming into the weekend they seemed to be sitting in the 11-13 overall seed range. Even if they win the B1G torment it seems unlikely they could climb enough to pass us in overall seed.

Where are we landing here?

1. Arizona, Duke, Mich, Florida
2. Houston, Uconn, Iowa State, Illinois
3. Mich St, Nebraska, Gonzaga, Purdue

Possible Nebraska drops to 4 seed?
Purdue is moving up a lot. I have them as the last 2 seed now ahead of Illinois and MSU. Also watch out for Virginia. They may become a 2 seed.

It's projecting a lot, but I'd prefer in the East with Duke. Duke without their PG is very beatable.
