*** Official #7 IOWA STATE vs #16 Texas Tech Game(Day) Thread ***

The Pac 12 teams decided to split, and U of A is lucky the Big 12 invited them to join. They knew what they were signing up for. I think the benefits of being a part of the Big 12 far outweigh having to take a plane to the conference tournament. It makes sense to hold the tournament in a central location. Join the WAC if you want a closer venue.

Even if it were somewhere else, people who have been to these understand the event is better in a more mid-sized city than in a large city with lots of events where the event disappears. KC is great because it becomes the event and the city embraces it. Vegas would suck because its just another event in a city that hosts thousands
This. Remember when the Big 12 Tournament was held in Dallas a few times? <yawn>

Honest question, how many tourney teams have they beaten? Just Neb and a super pedestrian Indiana?

Personality vote. Everyone thinks their coach is a swell guy, then there is Stirtz and the story behind both of them. Any other team with that resume Big 10 or not would be on the bubble or playing in Dayton.

Unless players generally change shoes to help on typical courts Bob Sloop should just sort of STFU.

Seemed to work for ISU. That court isn't going anywhere ($$$$$$$), so teams should adjust and get the proper shoes that don't slip. I'm sure they will tinker with the surface to see if they can reduce slippage.

I’ve felt this way since they’ve joined. It was mostly UU for a while but the U of A crowd is starting to speak up. This at the end of the day is a middle of the country conference. Kansas City is fairly central to all the members excluding the PAC additions. Maybe we host in OKC or Denver? If Yormark tries to compromise.

I didn't see much of the game but weren't both teams slipping today?

Denver is really the only alternative that makes sense. Its still close to the big 12, has better airport access than KC, and isn't so large that it'd disappear in that city. The unfortunate part is that Colorado has been so historically garbage that most years they probably aren't driving many fans to the arena (plus Denver has an NBA team that gets the attention)

I do think there's also something to be said though with KC, and other teams will think its a bit unfair, that there's an almost guaranteed attendance for it there so the conference doesn't take a bath on ticket sales if the wrong teams are down. ISU\KU fans (and to a lesser extent KSU/OSU) will always make sure the arena gets sold even when one or both are having a down year.
