Jamie Pollard was not our AD at the time. Nor did Johnny have any of those accolades other than ISU winniest Coach. But yes I remember Johnny Orr.
Also... the entire college basketball landscape is different from when Orr was coaching. Transfers had to sit a year and didn't get it back. Couldn't jump from team to team every year like they do now. And the athletes couldn't get paid unless they went to Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, or Kentucky.

I meant that as popular a coach as Orr was and the team he had returning, BF being fired has happened before. And Orr was way more beloved than BF.

Especially when the confrence footprints are so large. Big 12 yiu could have to travel to Flirida, West Virginia, Arizona or Colorado, Big 10 is even worse, New Jersey to California .
The mega-conferences are ********. Just have them for football only and regional conferences for every other sport.

It makes me ask why is the sport so expensive? It’s only 12-15 players with not a lot of special equipment needed to play.

Lots of travel? Coach cost?
From what I have read, the biggest difference versus MBB is that average ticket price is low so even when attendance is good, it just doesn’t bring in much revenue. For instance, recently Iowa WBB has had bigger crowds than MBB, but brings in far lower revenue as tickets are cheaper. It’s obviously harder to get the data but when fans throw around attendance numbers, we really should take into account average ticket cost if possible or else it’s comparing apples to oranges.

Yes and our defense is worst it’s been in at least 6 years. It really is a damning result for whoever those assistants are they failed the test.

OK, I'll say the quiet part out loud. Audi is horrible on defense. I mean, it's not hard to scheme. Just use your big to screen and Audi stays in the lane. Get an open 3 every time. Obviously, she makes up for it on offense most often. But when you double and triple her, it comes down to making outside shots. If they are not falling, ISU loses.

I agree that Audi is not that mobile on defense and teams have taken advantage many times. The bolded part is the most important, if they are throwing multiple players at her, our other players must be hitting their shots or we are in trouble. This year it seems we are either hot or cold on our outside shooting example last game.

Here are some facts...
  • Our last regular season conference championship was 26 years ago
  • We have won only a single conference tournament championship since 2001
  • We have had only a single Sweet 16 appearance since 2010
  • We have not had an Elite 8 appearance since 2009
  • Our average Big 12 tournament seeding has been roughly a #5
  • NCAA tournament record since 2010 when ISU is favored (the higher seed): 7-5
  • NCAA tournament record since 2010 against teams seeded #9 or higher: 1-9
And let this one sink in...our last NCAA tournament win against a "top 20" team (defined as a 5 seed or better) was in 1999 against Connecticut (yes, THAT game). And since that game 27 years ago, an ISU women's basketball team has not won a single NCAA tournament game over a higher-seeded team.

Yeah, I posted before that this team will go as far as Bill coaches them and that's proving true unfortunately.

Ok, so what I want to know is how someone is is college bb for 3 years and somehow gets bigger. I mean, there’s obviously an advantage for her being so big, but I feel like her dropping 20-30 lbs would make her more mobile and help the team.

She has actually trimmed down, but added muscle.

We have a couple of players that look to have put on weight since they joined the team and are less able to be effective defensive players. Conditioning does not seem to be big priority.

Can you also do the same stats for the 20+ years at ISU before BF came to coach?

Audi is Audi and as noted by acoustimac, she has added muscle. It is possible for her to trim down more, and that may help her balance (falling) and mobility, I accept her as she is as one of the best centers in the country. Additionally, when she is doubled and tripled we have a helpful offensive switch to take advantage of concentrated defense on her.

No doubt that we were bad prior to BF. I'm just providing evidence that we have badly underperformed in the NCAA tournament for pretty much a quarter of a century. Also, we have had a Big 12 POY candidate for the past 12 years or so (Carleton, A Joens, Crooks) and have not really come close to winning a regular season conference crown.

I'm not sure that raising a program from the dead deserves a lifetime of unquestioned support.
