*** Official #16 Texas Tech vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

As in NBA? No. He needs a huge jump next year.
Until he shows any sort of life offensively absolutely no shot. He has a great wingspan and defends pretty well for a freshman but he is really limited offensively

I can't believe how many of you are unwilling to give TT props for how well they're shooting/playing. They're putting on a clinic. It isn't always about how bad we're playing.

Dude, they are wide open shots. It’s most definitely our lack of defense that’s helping them.

I like this team but if I’m an outsider and I see Iowa state as the 2 seed in your region I’d be thrilled. We don’t look intimidating at all and beatable. When I watch Michigan, Duke, Arizona they all look terrifyingly good

I mean that's not the comparison though. Those 3 are consensus 1 seeds.

TT on pace to shoot 36 threes.

If some knucklehead on here knows they are gonna shoot that many, you have to be able plan for it as a squad.

Or live with the consequences.
They are 10-11 from 2,

You have to pick your poison I guess...

Same lingering issues. Cant trap certain teams, it's what they want and we play right into it. No half court offense, Milan gets no shots. It is what it is, just how tj wants to play.

It's just the trap doesn't work against these better teams, at some point you just have to sit down and guard them straight up.

Adjustments? Adjustments? You crazy man. You crazy.

Apparently, setting one predictable screen per possession to get him open is not an effective plan.
Hey, we ran the screen-the-screener off the horns set (poorly, as usual). So there's that. Hooray!

We did some sort of pin down when the ball was passed the Blake at the top of the key - he waited too long to pass it to Milan coming off the screen. Timing sucked. We run sets too lazily &, frankly, we don't seem to run any others. This tells me mentally the players are not confident in what they are doing, so they run through the motions.

I’d rather have Milan shoot a three than JJ driving and missing bunnies. Milan is probably 20 % higher from 3 than JJ is driving and shooting from 5’ and in. Another turd performance.

Really want to know how we keep going back to Jefferson iso ball when it’s almost never a successful game strategy. We’ve seen it over and over and over but the coaches are too stubborn to change? When we move and share the ball, we are successful. How we get sucked into this type of offense is 100% on the coaching staff.

I'm not a basketball expert, but it seems that Tech is kicking the living **** out of ISU's traps. Maybe do something else?
Traps only work when they are done aggressively, passive traps are a recipe for getting slaughtered. Today is a great example.

Hoping this half ends with that uptight Tech coach blowing a rod...

Some would say, it's the way TTU is handling and moving the ball that gives them the open shots. In other words, exactly what GT25Ump said.

They prepared well for this game, that is obvious. Their ball movement is in response to how we are playing them, and they are executing at a high level.
