*** Official #16 Texas Tech vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Watching half court offense between the two teams is like 4d chess by TTU vs tic tac toe by ISU.

Tech can’t shoot this well for another 20 minutes, right?

They also a had a **** ton of easy buckets in the paint with little to no resistance from ISU. Horrendous defense in the paint.

Hopefully tech cools down but if you’re gonna get wide open looks every single time then unlikely. TJ as great as he is refuses to adjust in game when things aren’t working. The trapping has led to absolutely wide open looks for tech

The other team comes out with a good gameplan and we’re hopeless to counter.

Hopefully they come out of half with some fire.

**** the bed once again. Must not care about going undefeated in Hilton

I don’t usually like to pile on with the popular take…but this defense would be just fine playing straight up against a small lineup with shooters. It’s not even that trapping is dumb, it’s that if your traps are too slow today, adjust. Once you’re down by 15 there’s no time to try to just flip a switch. You can’t leave guys any more open than you are already, so adjust

I am kind of shocked how unprepared we look. This is the last big game a lot of this core will probably be playing in Hilton.
Where does preparedness come from?

I see one team quite prepared. And another going through the motions.

Team went from looking like a final four contender a month ago, to a sweet sixteen and out team over the last month. Some major changes are needed. Toure is almost unplayable right now, and to stand around offense needs to stop.

Clearly, Coach Otz didn’t have these guys ready to play today. Just no effective effort and poor technique on offense. Our dribble drive is making it easy for their defense. Milan needs to shoot off the catch instead of pump faking every single time he catches the ball.

8 out of 9 of Atwell's 3s have been pretty open looks.
Milan has had 1 open look.
Our guys are not good passing the ball to Milan at the best points he's coming off screens or moving through sets. Blake missed 2 opportunities Milan was pretty open.
JJeff missed Heise in the corner on that last possession.
We play an upper level league team after they've lost 1 of their top players and look like ass. Not a positive trend.
If there's ever been Hilton Magic, now's the time
