Song at the end?

I’ll be that guy. That was the only lame thing tonight. Weren’t playing them. Disposed of them 2 days ago, so why were we thinking of them? Hilton all around though was maybe the best I’ve ever heard it. A lot of criticism lately, but the crowd and students delivered in a big way tonight.
I’ve attended games for years at Hilton and that may top the best crowd ever. Also, I watched the replay and TV does not do justice to how loud it was. Go Clones!

It’s also about some guy catching his girlfriend cheating on him so there’s that…
It's also an all time banger.
The Killers are my favorite band, and Mr. Brightside is a decent song, but I cannot for the life of me understand why that song has become their most enduring hit. They have so many songs that are much better than that and nowhere near as overplayed. Maybe people just have a repressed cuckolding fetish and that’s why the song speaks to them so much. Certainly would explain why the song is so popular in the UK.

Really hate we’re doing a “F KU” chant after beating Houston, that gives little bro syndrome in the big 12. We just smacked KU why are we chanting F KU after beating a WAY better team in Houston cmon now lol
I totally agree with you, but students don't operate with logic and reason in these moments. It's just fun and it doesn't have to be the right take or make sense.

Same as court storming, its not a decision based on logic or reason.

Yep. I was at a wedding and the DJ played Mr Brightside. F KU took over the wedding as well. It was received with smiles by everyone in attendance ......including the grandparents of both the bride and groom.
I used to hate KU, but I honestly don’t hate them anymore and respect the hell out of Bill Self. But it’s so damn fun shouting F KU with a bunch of people lol

I agree. I was at that one and Hilton sounded as good as ever.

Yeah honestly, I'm shocked at how deeply people analyze the lyrics to a song after a win. Makes me think the only reason people like Sweet Caroline is because it says "good times never seemed so good". Well yeah no **** they haven't, but that doesn't mean we have to play a boring song to prove it.

I’ve heard Mr. Brightside probably 1000 times and I had no idea what it was about and never cared. It’s just a fun song to yell/sing in a big group.

And 90% of the people would wonder why we’d play on of their “better” songs. It’s a great sing along song, most everyone know the lyrics, and it generally creates an awesome scene. Thought it was great!

I promise you that you are overthinking this.
Haha! My last bout of overthinking caused me to be banned on this platform for over a decade...which is why "it" now shows me as a "new member". AND - unlike so many other, being "heard" is not worth creating alter egos to remain 'engaged.. Trust me (my promise to you) - I'm not the one overthinking - not that anyone with declining IQ's understands. My posts are rare and targeted...not so trivial as you suppose (ignorantly).

Have you ever been a college student at a game?
Does the original victory over Missouri - generally regarded as the very beginning of HILTON MAGIC - in the middle of the section generating the chants evoking Norm Stewart's reactions to the crowd - count?

Good for you.

My comment was a response to this. "I don't like it because our fans should a) enjoy FULLY the elation of victory (not some "bright side outlook amidst pain or prior - or ongoing - regrets"), and b) aspire to be "better"...better than petty differences and biases."

Sounds pretty pompous and judgy, so I wondered if you ever participated in that sort of thing. Your response to me was pretty pompous as well.

Relax. Enjoy your life, and let them enjoy theirs.

Reiterating the same. Professional sports venues have leaned into the 'sing-along' emo/pop punk/alt rock (whatever genre you want to call it) songs over the last 5 or so years too. Crowd gets into it, nothing more, nothing less.

I guess me and my low IQ will just have to go on having an awesome time and you can keep being the fun police. I hope that’s worth it for you.

You probably think they were chanting lets go Brandon too don't you?
haha, nope. It was late and I was exhausted so I'm sure I misheard. Just didn't hear the hard K like I thought I usually do.

1st world problems in this thread.

My $.02

Sounded good on tv, and personally much better than Sweet Caroline.
Glad the court storm didnt happen. Act like we have been here. Wasnt an upset, just a great win against a top quality Big 12 opponent.

Loved the ***** chants when the Houston player took a knee after getting scraped across the face. That was clearly heard across the ESPN broadcast....
Agreed. Sweet Caroline is a fine song, but the tempo is a little slow for such a high energy event

I was there Saturday for F KU, I’m all for fun let it rip but I don’t get the F KU chant post beating a way better Houston team. KU fans clowning us on social media for it and I can’t blame em. If iowa beat a top 3 team at home (not named us) and started chanting F ISU I’d clown em lol
Yeah, I used to clown OU fans that would come into JTS and repeatedly flash the horns down when Texas was playing a thousand miles away.

I may be old but I think it is dumb. Don't give them all of the attention and feed their already overinflated egos.
