Post Malone/Jellyroll concert at Jack Trice

Pretty sure for stadium events the venue pays a fee to the artist to show up and the venue keeps tickets, parking, concessions etc
I’d always seen promoters rent facilities and they get ticket money. Concessions are usually the stadiums money. Parking I guess it would depend on what was all rented.

If you like Post Malone or not, If you are half interested and/or respect musical artists and their journey from roots to stardom,
Post Malone: On His Terms (Prime Video, Pluto TV, and Tubi) is interesting and a decent watch.

He is a talented musician and songwriter. Regardless of his changes in genres over the years. It’s more of a tribute to his abilities than it is chasing money. Although probably both. I’m always a sucker for artists that write their own songs, play instruments on their own songs, and do it at a high level. And in his case, multiple genres.

I came away from the documentary with more respect for him as a person and musician even though I’m not a huge fan of his music.

It’s my daughter’s 21st that day and not sure if we will be in Ames for this show, but would probably go if it wasn’t a conflict.

….Just to drink beer at JTS on Mid American Energy Field. ;)

I definitely know the Artist gets paid upfront and pretty sure also cuts of concessions and anything and everything they can get.

As a side note - my uncle lives in Nashville and he was waiting outside of some pizza place to get a seat when Jelly Roll was out waiting as well. My uncles grandson was with him and Jelly Roll just struck up a conversation with his grandson...couldn't of been nicer he said. Was genuinely a good dude and as they were walking out stopped by again to say goodbye to my uncles grandson.

So...his music is terrible but he's a damn good guy.
I've heard the same. I can't recall which podcast..maybe Smartless...he talks in depth about his time in prison and now basically using music to serve others. Oh, and he's got a fascinating music path as if I recall he self published so controls it all (had a big YouTube following)

A lot cheaper tickets also. Strait keeps saying it’s his last go around and people buy because of that. Throw in that it had been a long time since a stadium concert in JTS, it’s over a 3 day weekend and you have the makings of a big show. Clay Stapleton also didn’t hurt.

Field of dreams is doing a Labor Day weekend again. Tim McGraw drew 2x of nickelback so country acts sell better around here for sure.
Also George (and Stapleton opening) probably had an age of interest range from like 20 to 80 years old....and your other points you brought up.

Hopefully both these shows do well to keep the entertainment and revenue coming!

His cover of War Pigs at the Grammys last night as an Ozzie tribute was pretty good.

Yeah kinda puts into perspective what other musicians think of him too. He was doing an Ozzie tribute at the friggin Grammys backed up by Slash, Chad Smith from RHCP, Duff from GnR and Andrew Watt.

Supposed to be one of the nicest and most humble celebs out there too. Big fan of the guy even though I’m not huge on some of his solo stuff.

Some of his other collaborations:

Post started as rap then went country, kind of sings everything. I assume this will be more country since that is his new stuff.

Jelly Roll lost about 300lb in the last couple years so will look different than in these. Here's some Jelly Roll for those that don't know the hits:

People don't want hear his songs, they just want to complain that he doesn't sing "real music" (meaning music they like or deam worth listening to).

We need a big timer to come to Jack trice for a NIL Concert, 100% of revenue going to ISU athletics. That would be a major Party, similar to Farm Aid but going to athletics.

I pull this comp of covers up from time to time. Post Malone Covers Bob Dylan, Sublime, Nirvana, Green Day, Metallica, Bon Jovi.

They could bring in Taylor Swift, but she couldn't fill CY Stephens let alone the Jack. :jimlad:
