Uniform Sponsor Patch - Iowa State

This is going to be the same problem that we have with NIL already. The highest bidder will get the sponsorship and I can bet you that the highest bidder for that spot on an Iowa State uniform would probably not crack the top 5 of the the bids that the top Big 10 and SEC schools will get.
It won't close the gap but it'll slow the expansion of the gap.

Principal honestly might be your best shot. A company that has shown some signs of being interested in advertising in the sports realm and probably should want to increase their brand/logo recognition.
Per my wife who used to work at Principal, they apparently have a policy of only advertising on live sports as it’s really the only TV anyone watches live anymore. I know they’ve sponsored the signs on the Hoops in Hilton/Carver in the past, so I could see them wanting to bid on the patches

Seriously, what is $20-30mm to a billionaire or 2? Do we not have viable school product to sell? ISU is better than this.

Now hear me out. Have our defensive linemen jerseys be sponsored by Casey’s pizza. Maybe they can be as greasy as their pizza and no offensive linen will be able to hold them?
Maybe we can recruit the greased up deaf guy then to be the next great ISU Defensive Lineman

I feel like, for some reason, Casey's hasn't been big on sponsoring anything related to college athletics. They've spent on naming rights for other things. I guess there's just no direct ties to any of the universities, so they don't care? Seems like Wisconsin-based Kwik Star (Trip) does more with the Iowa universities.

Personally, considering their recent expansion trend and the fact that they do like $15 Billion in annual revenues, we should be hammering them more for their support.
Yea, feel like for the big companies you've gotta sponsor both ISU & Iowa (like Hy-Vee) or risk alienating fans. Or stay out of it altogether like Casey's.

I look at it that it just separates us further from the top. Think of the size of deals Ohio State and Texas get.
Agreed. The money is needed and will be nice. But the SEC and B1G will get this money as well, and the blue blood teams, and most teams in the SEC and B1G will get sponsorship far more than ISU, at a time when they don't really need it.

This system is broke.

Close the gap? What do you think the difference is between what ISU gets and what Ohio State gets for this?
I don't think @cyfan92 meant 'close the gap'. I think we all know the gap will continue to widen. He said it will help "close the shortfall", the required money, which it will do.

Stop comparing… and create! This is the way!

Kind of feels like we’re dangerously close to having each player sponsored by a company. Sort of like those signs when a family or organization agrees to pick up litter for a section of a highway.

That's how its works in every sport. You think the Lakers/Celtics/Warriors sponsor patches in the NBA are worth the same as the Hornets/Pelicans/Grizzlies

This part of the system is fair. It's driven by the most TV viewership. Actual advertisers are going to be paying for the spot. Being on FOX/ESPN and ESPN+ will be important

I think having endowed positions is more likely than having a player sponsored- such as the John Deere “Nothing runs like a Deere” Running Back or the Bricklayers Union Defensive Lineman, with the player getting paid out of the proceeds of the sponsorship/ endowment which just passes from one person to the next.

Before too long our jerseys are just going to look like NASCAR fire suits rather than team uniforms- and seat donations/ ticket prices will continue to go up.
