Looking closer at his stats and size, I really wouldn’t be shocked if Malcolm Jones is played at the SAM linebacker position. Seems to fit that mold.

I am not that intelligent. Just going by either 247 or On3. Has Baloun at DT as RS-Sr, so I'm assuming with the RS that's how he gets to play next season (as a "grad" student?). Malcom Jones shows as a RS-Jr, so I assumed he had 2 more seasons to play "collegiately". I could easily be off.I could be wrong but I think he has only 1 year of eligibility left. Redshirted at Michigan State in 2022 with 3 games played. Then played 8 more in 2023. Transferred to Jacksonville State and played 12 in 2024 and 14 in 2025.
Several, take a look at 247, multiple former 4 stars are now 3 stars after transferring to ISU. Then many ISU former 3 stars boosted to 4 stars after transferring to PSU etc. Just for this year.Do you have examples of the ISU related ones this year?

I believe there were 11-12 left of the ISU defectors when the portal closed. Several of them have found homes now, though, several stepping down to G5 or FCS.1600 players divided by 134 FBS schools = 12 players per school that still have not found a home. That would include both full ride and walk-ons who entered the portal. So that # doesn't sound too off. The P4 schools will most likely fill up first. Then the G5 schools. Then FBS players left over will look at FCS, D2, D3 and NAIA or just leave the game.
Those are high school vs transfer rankings. Several commits are also higher rated in the transfer portal than they were in high school or last time they transferred. Chase Sowell had the same 93 rating when we signed him last year. I was talking ones that actually changed after they committed to ISU or away from ISU, which would potentially show a bias.Several, take a look at 247, multiple former 4 stars are now 3 stars after transferring to ISU. I get some of these are somewhat performance based, but it is pretty telling that almost anyone previously ranked above 86 instantly has their rating reduced to between 84-86 at ISU, regardless, and anyone that increases ranking coming to ISU maxes out at 86, notice that the rankings are flat numbers too, where before they went out several decimals more, because of more data input. These are just some arbitrary feels like rankings from probably a single persons viewpoint, not from many people, to reduce bias.

Good question. I don’t believe so but they didn’t list those actual figures
It is allowed to NIL cheerleaders? WOW!Any TCU cheerleaders in the portal?![]()
Brenden Black being a 4 star is laughable. Maybe he was dinged up last year but he wasn’t very good.Several, take a look at 247, multiple former 4 stars are now 3 stars after transferring to ISU. Then many ISU former 3 stars boosted to 4 stars after transferring to PSU etc. Just for this year.

As far as I know, at least that I saw. None of the transfers, or very few, had a ranking as a transfer Until after they actually committed, to where they went. Those are high school vs transfer rankings. If this is your "evidence", it's laughable. The transfer rankings take in to account their performance since they've been in college. For example, while not really highly rated out of HS, Rocco has been a 3 year starter and put up great numbers on a successful team. Thus, his rankings went up. Same with Brahmer. Jake Taylor, on the other hand, was a really highly recruited and ranked player out of high school and signed with Oklahoma. He has literally been injured ever since and the reality is that he's a shell of what Oklahoma signed. Thus, the drop in ranking. Not quite as drastic with Carter, but similar. He was on Auburn's extra point and FG teams, but didn't sniff their 2-deeps. And they were not very good. So, he dropped. If either of these guys were in the portal and still regarded like they were coming out of high school, they are $1MM plus guys. We would not have gotten them. It drives me insane the conspiracy theorists and victims on this board. Like the guys who say there's a conspiracy against Iowa State players in the draft. The guys doing the drafting are paid millions of dollars to make the right picks. They're going to blow by ISU players because of a conspiracy? LOLOLOLOL.Several, take a look at 247, multiple former 4 stars are now 3 stars after transferring to ISU. I have a different take on the list you of players you posted. One set of players is was highly rated out of high school, went to big schools and didn’t seen much playing time so they transferred looking for a better fit. The other group wasn’t as highly rated out of high school, went to a P4 school and became multi year starters on one of the best teams in the their conference over the course of their careers. As far as I know, at least that I saw. None of the transfers, or very few, had a ranking as a transfer Until after they actually committed, to where they went.
So, every transfer I saw, had their rating change after they transferred too or from ISU.
Yes I understand that their ratings started out as HS and then rerated as a Transfer, but that is the entire point. Basically if you transfer to a place like ISU, you are almost guaranteed to be ranked 84-86, if you transfer to a place like PSU, Bama, etc that is not the case, and you get a bump because you are wanted/committed to said big name school in said big named conference, and there appears to be no invisible limit from biases.
For every student athlete who loses an FBS slot due to the portal, there is another student athlete who gets that spot due to the portal. It's a zero sum game.
The list of players, was just showing "examples" of those that had significant ratings changes. Not proof of any conspiracy, but I was asked to show players that had significant change in ratings, I didnt say it proved or disproved anything other than the trend. I was asked to show players that had their ratings changed, that is what I showed.I have a different take on the list you of players you posted. I didn’t pay attention to them so I don’t know when the PSU players got their transfer rankings, but I am positive Carter, Taylor, and Singletary already had their rankings when they committed to ISU. There might be a bias but that list of players you gave doesn’t show anything.
They probably just saw that he was a 3 year starter. I got a laugh out of Sowell being rated that high, and Marcus Neal being rated too low.Brenden Black being a 4 star is laughable. Maybe he was dinged up last year but he wasn’t very good.
Yep, 4 star is laughable. Being a 4 or 5 star should mean you have elite ball catching ability. Sowell had literal bricks for hands.I got a laugh out of Sowell being rated that high.
