Survivor 48

It's one thing to be bad with names, and another altogether to spend 20+ days with some people and not remember a single one of their loved ones' names...especially since they really don't have a lot else to talk about other than their lives back home, and no one is glued to a screen...

Yeah not true at all. I was in the Marines. Around everyone every single day every single minute and the same problem would exist. We would know a a lot about their personal life but not about names for every single guy in our platoons family names.

Man I didn't like Savannah or Rizzo. Maybe I underestimate the relationships these people build, but no one wanted to hurt each others feelings. I was team Sage but she wasn't ruthless enough.
I didnt buy Sages nonsense. She was super cool to people every single episode but when they did the private one on one interviews, she was personally throwing everyone under the bus. It was actually kind of gross. Then i am supposed to believe at the end that she was this great lady who is just loved everyone? nah

She didn't want to know "every single name", just someone from their lives. I think she was pointing out Savannah's "all about me" attitude, and her lack of social game.

You weren't in the Marines for the social aspect, but that is absolutely a big part of Survivor.

Sorry I didn't get a thread started on season 49. This fall got away from me with kid's activities and we were always a week or more behind on episodes so I did not want to open this thread up and spoil it for me. I finally just got done watching the finale today so here are some general thoughts on the season:

- I agree, not a great cast, especially coming off a really strong season 48.
- It still drives me nuts how these new school players can't do simple math and learn from previous seasons that it's all about getting to the merge and in order to do that you have to keep your tribe strong to win challenges. You can eliminate people you dislike or perceive as challenge threats once you get to the merge but in order to do that you have to avoid losing challenges that send you to tribal council.
- Liked some of the new twists they put in this year with challenges and advantages. Not quite as predictable for a change

Thoughts leading up to the final 3:
- Rizzo was good TV but annoying to me. So cocky and bold with his gameplay. They were all fools for not trying to make him nervous enough to play his idol or attempt to vote him out to flush it or a blindside. He couldn't win puzzles without having someone finish it first so he could copy it and wasn't much of a challenge threat in general.
- I liked Steven and Jawan. Both played hard and strategic and that's why they ultimately got voted out but they played the game like I prefer to see it played and not based so much over social drama that usually plays out lately.
- Sophie may have won this season had they not blindsided her when they did. Very likable and good at challenges.

Final 3:

- Nice to see another all female final 3 for the 1st time in awhile
- I figured Sage would finish 3rd but for me I was hoping that Savannah and Soph would shoot themselves in the foot enough at final tribal that maybe a few votes would shift her way
- After the questions I thought Soph was going to win. Seemed like she did the best job selling her game and story and had not pissed off as many people so I was getting the vibe she had swayed the jury.
- I was disappointed Savannah won. I was saying all season she was a snake in the grass and they should take her out the first chance they got. Maybe that is why she won though I guess, but she came off as very self-centered and egotistic (same with Rizzo) and I had a hard time believing anything she said was genuine. I didn't really like her early on so found myself rooting for her to lose every challenge so she might finally go home. I guess in hindsight that made her a good villain.

Season 50:
Looking forward to this and I promise I will start a new thread up on it before it starts. Already discussed some of my thoughts on the cast before, wished they had picked someone other than Coach, Cirie, Stephenie, and Q. Ok with the 2 they selected from season 49 but wished 1 had been Jake instead.

Anyone been following this "cheating scandal" that has been making some news this past week? Sage is saying there were more than just the 2 contestants that were kicked off before filming that were involved in some pre-gaming. Trying to copy some links but it's not letting me for some reason

Just read about it. What she is saying will probably make it so she never comes back on the show. I didn’t like her the whole time with her little side interviews where she was so two faced. I’ll wait until someone else varies this I go before I believe it

I started out kind of liking Sage but by the end of the season felt that she's someone who could quite likely murder her husband some day.

By the end of the season, Lew & I didn't care WHO won...they were all idiots after the merge.

The fact that they let Rizzo go NINE tribals without making him play the idol AND someone had a knowledge is power advantage they wouldn’t use on him is some of the worst game play I’ve ever seen on Survivor.

No one deserved to win but at least Savannah won some challenges.

Rizzo was not a very good player but the fact that nobody flushed his idol out at any point, when everyone knew he had it, means they were all worse players. Horrible gameplay.

Completely agree. Had Sophi used her knowledge of power advantage to steal his idol then vote him out that would have been a game winning move for her. Was just stupid of them to let him keep flaunting that thing every tribal council and not once think maybe we should make him play it so at least he no longer has it going forward. If there was a puzzle in a challenge he was beatable as the only way he ever could finish one was to wait till someone finished theirs so he could copy it.

Definitely a lot of missed opportunities post-merge for some players that ultimately lost them the game. Savannah was another snake in the grass whose name came up a lot that they never could pull the trigger on voting her out when they had the chance and that ultimately is why she won.

I just find the allegations Sage is claiming now to be interesting. She comes off as a bitter loser doing this but I also am not just shrugging off what she is saying either as we knew 2 players got the boot right before filming for breaking the rules so it's very possible there was more going on that either they didn't see or let pass because it was not as bad. Do find it interesting that Jake allegedly was 1 because ultimately him having to be medically removed from the game early on kind of negates any advantage he or Sophi may of had if they kept working together.
