I know it’s early, but On3 currently lists eight with the only defensive player being Carnell. Add the recent the Manske news and that makes 8 of 9 being offense. Campbell will have zero pushback on any offensive guy, but the new DC may not want all three Cyclone LBs.I count 15 that I've heard rumors or seen offers announced. Wouldn't be too hard to get there I guess if a few more guys go with.

He'll get cheers and applause...but it will be years from now. People will soften over time...but not anytime soon.Maybe in when he comes back in 2045 for the 25th anniversary of the Fiesta Bowl win.
If he doesn't do well at PSU in three or four years, MC is exactly the profile of a guy who goes to Mt. Union for the rest of the days and we never think about him again, unless CBS Sunday Morning does a soft focus fluff piece on him for winning a D3 championship there. He doesn’t have the skill to last at PSU longer than five years. probably only 101, but they will be dogs (dawgs)So your assumption is we're going to have less than 105 players when we take the field in August/September?

There is no next level to take the program.
I think we can get to the playoff
I expect OL, TEs, and QBs to go along with Clanton/Mouser/Waters rather than everyone just going straight with Campbell. Landry/Kratch don't seem to have found a landing place, Rasheed is retired(?), Heacock is retired, Poteat is at MSU. Defense will be learning a new scheme so I expect the defensive transfers to go where they were being recruited out of HS or as $$ comes.I'm starting to wonder how many guys ultimately follow Campbell to PSU compared to what he expected. Rocco seems like a given, but the rest of the studs are going to have pretty lucrative options.
Big donor stepped up and Sweet Caroline and Juicy Wiggle will not enter the portal. Hawks stepped up to make sure The Wave and In Heaven There is No Beer stay in Iowa City
Really? Tell this guy...........
He came to them when they were coming out of their pedo coverup. No one wanted that job and they had to rebuild.Franklin couldn’t beat a team with a pulse and he lasted a decade
I wonder if some of the guys hurt or on D aren’t looking for offers to allow MC to beat the market.I know it’s early, but On3 currently lists eight with the only defensive player being Carnell. Cool. This thread needs more CPA talk! Thanks but my CPA business is doing just fine and I'll run my business how I see fit, but thanks for the input.
ISU was at the can make playoff level already even if they didn’t actually do it.
It is the same as people (rightfully) claiming that Indiana is at the can win a national championship level. They are, even if they don’t actually do it.
Is there a level for ISU between can make playoff and can win title? Maybe consistently make playoff?
Not out of the current budget, but if Blum wanted to host a bake sale, I’d be all in with some “special brownies.”Unpopular take:
If ISU were to blow a disproportionate chunk of its NIL budget to bring Brahmer back out of spite I’d be OK with it.
Laughable. Rogers can achieve so much more than Campbell. I don’t think Campbells teams always looked so competent.I'm an unabashed Campbell supporter. I get that rubs people on here the wrong way. What he did here in his 10 years is incredible. I've been around the AD department and can say with no doubt in my mind that any incoming staff will not be as competent and prepared as Campbells. There is no next level to take the program. He won us a Fiesta Bowl for God sakes. To sit on here and hype up the next coach is fine. Just understand the reality that something special walked out the door.
Campbell was a culture guy, where he got most of his mileage. Bench coach? Not so much. He talked up "winning in the margins," which over a 10 year span his teams were not good at, IMO. I'm also not going to forget that Campbell was very, very good for ISU football. The leadership from this site did a 180 in about 24 hours the weekend of December 5, ending with a full court press to stomp out (and literally delete) every bit of dissent and frustration from fans (something very clearly orchestrated by the Iowa State administration). The overwhelming damage-control narrative shifted to "frustration and perceived-negative opinions towards decision makers at Iowa State are not constructive, and those having them are just looking for a villain! Move on, you BAD fans you!"
Fast forward a few weeks, and now we see new unsubstantiated ambiguous rumors start swirling that sorta kinda paint the old staff as the true villains!? ("Maybe that old staff's culture wasn't so great after all! Ey!? Eh!?") That is such weird timing! I thought we were scolded for being bad fans that are just out for blood for unfairly seeking out villains...
I personally don't feel the need to 'defend' Matt Campbell as a football coach. I have been vocal for years that his in-game coaching has been the core reason why we're losing games. Not talent, not scheduling, not bad luck. I believe they absolutely screwed the pooch this year by only (yes only) winning 8 games, when it was very clear that 10 was the floor with this schedule, even with the injuries. I could make a case for 11. But separate from that - this idea that now he and his prior staff - many of who would have absolutely loved to stay in Ames - are the jilted lovers in this is insane. On days like this, I appreciated the Blum story shared about Jalen Travis, which reminds us how much players loved to play for the former staff. The culture and program stability that was in place was absolutely very real, something Cyclone fans were very proud of, and this sentiment has been consistently shared by former players, coaches, folks close to the program, etc. for the last 10 years. The culture of Iowa State football was quite literally one of the most nationally recognized 'things' about our football squad. Hell, I would dream for my sons to grow up having a coach they talk about like Brock Purdy talks about Matt Campbell.
And in case it wasn't obvious - none of this prevents Jimmy from also doing some impressive things at Iowa State. Like others, I would absolutely love it if he (and his staff) are better in-game coaches than we have had in the past. I got chills hearing him say "beat the f***in hawks" in Hilton. He seems like a dude that is pretty relentless. My entire family can't wait for the first football tailgate, wearing our Cardinal colored glasses of course.
