So we can't question Pollard on here anymore?

Reminder that we are barely six months into the "new" NIL structure with the $20 million cap and NIL deals approved by a clearing house.
We can barely cover the $20 million cap with donations and AD revenue. Football and MBB get 85% of the $20million. If you want more money for FB where does that come from? Take it from Bball? Give WBB and wrestling basically nothing?
I'm not even sure some of the numbers being floated for spending above the cap with NIL are realistic until we see what the clearing house does. Will they approve $28 Million at Texas Tech football like was previously done or $20 Million at Virginia for football? IMO the clearinghouse will rubber stamp a lot as loop holes will exists to get around NIL “valid business purpose” criteria.
But again, we don't have the funding for that and only play in the cap space. So do you gut other programs for sake of football?
Edit: this is how I understand the Cap and NIL. Gladly be corrected.

The 20.5 is revenue sharing, not NIL.

What is behind the times? Our biggest issue is we don’t have enough rich donors. What do you want Pollard to do about that? Also everyone who blindly believe everything Blum and CW were saying quickly looked foolish.
Why? Because those guys got scolded and quickly “retracted” what they said?

What gets me is the belief held by so many that Pollard has done this amazing job and we would be totally screwed without him. He has a so-so hit rate on coaching hires. Facilities and fan support have improved during his time, but the amount of money pumped into college sports has also increased exponentially.

I mean there's been misses but considering the overall results in football and basketball over the last 15-20 years I don't know how you can call it so-so.

Exactly what would be a higher standard above 'so-so'?

And I'm not a Pollard 'bootlicker' fwiw; he seems stubborn and a little out of touch.

If by "running circles around him" you mean being in a conference with Ohio State and Michigan, and the additional 10s of millions in media dollars that affords their AD, then you are correct.

I have shared this but my husband and I have gone to Hancher for concerts because of this we get random emails from Goetz. As an ISU alumn I am not sure I have gotten one from Pollard regarding his NIL plan.

Goetz had it laid out how she is going to be aggressive with donors, fans and businesses. Obviously she benefits from being in the big10 but she also is out there hustling too....more than our AD.

He’s 2 for 4 on MBB coaches and 1 for 3 on FB coaches with one more yet to be seen. Granted, the hits have been very good.

Chiz was a massive land at the time and had he stuck around he probably has some success.

CPR was a good fit and also did some good things before fizzling out.

Had CMC gone like .500 the last two-three seasons does that make him a bad hire with all he accomplished?

It doesn't help when the Big 12 took few milly from the budget in order to add the 4 corner schools. That doesn't help our budget. I guess we should just drop all non essential sports teams, but we need those to start in the ncaa, or some thing like that.

This is my biggest criticism of Jamie- he’s done a lot of good for ISU, and I mean a lot. But at the same time when it comes to Revenue Sharing he seems like he’s not interested in it, and is basically being dragged kicking and screaming to do it. Up until this week, I had yet to see any sort of communication from the AD about the We Will Fund. He’s come out and said that the department is looking over the ledge of a cliff in 2 years time, but when people put forward ideas like selling alcohol/ Ames Lager in stadiums he writes the whole idea off and calls people slobs. Would it make some money? Probably. Would it cover the $21MM? Definitely not. But you can’t keep asking donors and season ticket holders to keep donating more and more every year without hitting a breaking point where people walk away, and it seems that some folks have hit that breaking point in the last month with the way Campbell’s departure and the transfer portal have been handled, along with some criticism towards fans from now former players while they ride off into the sunset in their new Mercedes.

JP's job and responsibilities are infinitely more complicated and challenging than basically anyone on here can understand or fathom. And WAY tougher than even CMC understands too I'm afraid.

What JP has done for ISU athletics here is nearly a miracle folks. Can he improve on some things... sure... we all can. But he's been amazing at his job. And he can't just sacrifice everything at ISU just to make CMC happy and not leave... that would be idiotic.

Support those who want to be here!! It's pretty simple!

I think that rumor was part of the basis of the whole statement about it being preventable
I really don't think that is where Blum was coming from. He later admitted he had absolutely no knowledge of that situation so assuming it was not basis for his statements.

Well first we heard Pollard has “too much control over NIL and he doesn’t allow coaches the freedom.” Then it was followed by pollard explaining that the coaches have full control of funds within their given sport. The same crowd followed it with “well Pollard needs to have better control!”

Chizik was the flashy hire but not the right one. He had no idea what it took to be successful at ISU and he assembled one of the worst staffs we’ve ever had. Auburn hired him away to be a figurehead CEO and handpicked his assistants for him. Once those guys and the recruits they brought in were gone, he fell flat on his face.

CPR was a good Cyclone and did some nice things, but he wasn’t as successful overall as the first guy Pollard fired. Three bowls and a couple nice upsets, but one winning season out of seven.

Campbell was a success no matter what even if he had stayed and flamed out.

This I can agree with. Bought tickets for one game at EIU and also got an email letter from Goetz with some links on how to donate, though I wouldn't say there is much as an indicator that they are doing anything that probably every AD is to a large extent:

As someone who has done fundraising in the past, the unsolicited email ask is something that has to be done but generates very little money. It does increase awareness of need, even if it generates $0. Good on Betsy Goetzy, maybe they find a way to pay back their COVID loan someday.

Getting an email like this is important to several on this board. “At least it’s something!!!”
