I hear you. But, that is really the big question in this era. The gulf between the B1G and the SEC and the rest is becoming so vast, that I question is ISU really ‘competing’ on the same level? If so, how, given the problems you noted earlier with revenue? If not, then what is the appropriate level that ISU can compete at? I still think ISU could compete at least for a playoff berth given the league still having a guaranteed slot. But again, the general consensus is that ISU cannot compete resulting in coaching loss, player attrition etc.
We do compete. Pretty damn efficiently.
But two years from now we start cutting back hard on everything when reserves are gone. The AD has been very upfront about that. MC is gone because his answer to this problem was "every program for itself" and Pollard chose to defend men's basketball and the rest of the department, and let him walk. The new staff is eager to get to work and doesn't seem as inhibited by the financial realities ISU is currently experiencing. Will it pay off? Let's see.
People want to say JP is doing nothing while I see somebody making difficult choices all the time and getting fans a lot of wins in return. We're just talking past each other at this point.
I dumb things in this thread when people don't understand basic finances, act like we have unlimited funds and that somehow our AD is restricting these unlimited funds from being used.

I blame JP more than I blame CF. I think hands are kind of tied given the nature of the site. It’s hard for traditional media to get access when they’re critical of the establishment. It’s even harder for a fan site.
Good point…but look at what it’s done to Iowa. Their athletic dept is WAY in the hole.
I am of the belief that ISU doesn't need to compete monetarily with the high spending programs. I believe ISU can compete for Big 12 championships without paying millions for players. I believe there are a lot of players being paid WAY more than they are worth and ISU can be competitive WITHOUT those players.
I thought CW was critical of JP for not hiring his buddy, and BB temporarily blamed JP for Campbell leaving.
Lots of assumptions and erroneous points here. CF has led the way in being critical of JP. Almost to the opposite of what you’re saying and being unjournalistic. And you know JP is looking a sites like CF how? That’s a silly statement.
I agree with most of what you wrote. In this fiasco of the last month Campbell gets the majority of the blame in my eyes. That said, I don’t JP came off looking that great afterward either. There were multiple contradictory statements. To your point though, in two years yes, that is a critical juncture. JP publicly stated recently that ISU and ISU FB are going to be “just fine”. Given the revenue problem you noted, the question is how? Is the plan that CY-Town throws off enough revenue to close the gap?

I was talking about the people dumbing my post about the AD pressure applied an accepted by moderators of this site to shut down any discussion of Pollard.
They did and the narrative immediately shifted. As though they were “asked” to issue some kind of clarification.
I think he has been a great AD but this age of college athletics has passed him by. Beth Goetz is running circles around him in Iowa City with the NIL stuff.
What thread was closed? It must have been completely removed, I guess, as I dont see anything locked recently about the subject, I must have missed it.
That being said why is this one continuing to be open, if the theory that any criticism of JP is shut down immediately?
