I would never knock that one. That actually sounds great. Beats a cinnamon roll in my opinion.Fun fact. They love a soft pretzel with spicy mustard for breakfast in PA (at least in the Philly area).

It probably depends what you consider “managing”. I don’t mean this to be overly technical here but the devil will be in the details.Yes, I didn’t know if it was required or voluntary. I thought it might be voluntary because it seems the rich schools are promising money beyond the $20.5m and I thought there must be some organization beyond the AD, like We Will, managing that promise.
Absolutely no one does this, yet people act like it's a JP thing. Every ad that features team logo at every level includes revenue to that team.Neither am I and that's not argumentative at all! Appreciate the discussion.
My understanding on the Player's Era money is that it's 'clean' as soon as it's sent because of a community service clause in the contract with the school and that they've given a blanket waiver to both Player's Era and Acrisure Series on those funds.
I believe you're also correct on where money goes from individual deals, even though that is an incredibly messy way to do it. Batemon is getting picked by Iowa Corn because of who he is, so it should be his money. It's not like they'd take a walk on and feel like they got their money's worth. Blum seems to imply that he's not even getting his expenses covered for those kinds of appearances.
And we're in full agreement that Audi (or anybody else) shouldn't have to be out negotiating deals outside. I don't think that JP realizes allowing Audi to do those deals in ISU branded gear also gives him free marketing while she gets the check. Two birds, one stone.
Audi is a bit of a rare case in that she is recognizable without the ISU gear, but do you really think a Fareway Ad with Audi in her ISU gear is going to be some boon to fandom and revenue at ISU through indirect means? It's free marketing, but I'd say the value is pretty miniscule. People talk about marketing, but I'm trying to think of the person and mechanism by which somebody is going to spend additional dollars at ISU based on the fact that Audi is in a fareway ad with ISU branded gear that they wouldn't have already.Neither am I and that's not argumentative at all! they will, its already happening. in the form of not committing to smaller schools, increasing the talent/perception gapHard to sell the fanbase on NIL at this time. Why are the fans having to do all the work? The players want the NIL beyond Rev Share, let them find deals!
Which of those are Revenue Sharing? I see some "support funds" for various sports (though not football???) but don't see anything that is clearly indicated as Revenue Sharing. "Support fund" could be what gets used to buy uniforms, operations, etc. - not Revenue Sharing.
Its been pretty well established that every year a very large percentage of athletes who enter the portal are not on a D1 roster the following season. They either go down one or more levels, leave the sport, or are still looking for a spot.they will, its already happening. in the form of not committing to smaller schools, increasing the talent/perception gap
i do want to add, i think alot of the ISU kids made a big mistake entering the portal. a few are already posting "highlight" videos.
i am at the stage where if they are on the fence about rodgers or ISU, leave. do not take them back unless it is for pennies on the dollar.
i am hoping rather than spending 13mil on the roster, we spend 8 or so, and put 5 in the reserve.
Since general NIL is currently going towards funding ref share, I think donating to the WeWillFund is the best way to direct donations towards rev share. I didn’t see a FB one either, but the Grid Iron club is a great option if you want to donate directly to the FB program. Perhaps that’s why they don’t have a specific fund. I don’t think there is a way to donate directly to FB’s rev share, but they get the majority anyway.Which of those are Revenue Sharing? @brentblum any help here?
I don't follow them on social media, just out of curiosity, who posted highlight vids?i do want to add, i think alot of the ISU kids made a big mistake entering the portal. a few are already posting "highlight" videos.
There probably are a lot of landing spots agreed upon between teams and guys. There are also probably lots of interest and soft offers that are discussed but aren’t locked in. Lots of offers out there that are dependent on someone else falling through. Regardless, if they aren’t committed they are probably still trying to fish for the offers they can get.I don't follow them on social media, just out of curiosity, who posted highlight vids?
I find it interesting because most CFB people nowadays make it sound like a landing spot is already decided (potential tampering?) before a player even announces they're going into the portal.
If our players are posting highlight videos to "entice" programs to come offer them a bag, it's not a good look for them transferring if the landing spot(s) weren't there or as automatic as they thought/were told.
But I think the bigger point is 'we' shouldn't have to be the ones making them millionaires. These ADs are making hundreds of millions of dollars. They should be paying for it.I’m the tightest German you know…I get it.
This whole idea of making marginally talented 18 year olds millionaires is ridiculous.
Unfortunately I don’t know how we’re gonna stop this train without waiting for the inevitable collapse.
The problem is the disparity in the AD budgets. But I think the bigger point is 'we' shouldn't have to be the ones making them millionaires. These ADs are making hundreds of millions of dollars. They should be paying for it.
That's because there's no agreement like the NFL. It's just a bunch of guys with huge piles of chips at the poker table, bleeding the little guys out of their blinds. The problem is the disparity in the AD budgets.
And honestly, it’s gotten ridiculous how much is being spent. I saw CPR was making like $1.5m as ISU’s HC when he came on board. Now we got guys making $6-$10m.
OSU spends $28m on coaches alone.
It’s all insane.
The foundation is poor with building a big base on fundraising. The ISU Foundation's website is pretty bad IMO as far as promoting We Will. They really need to separate out the We Will fund and other athletic funds from academic. It's probably a stop gap fix to just add the We Will fund to the general fund list in order to accept donations but it needs to be cleaned up.
Here are some of the fund information I got in a Dec email sent to Cyclone Club members:
The Champions Circle, Unrestricted Fund, and We Will Fund are key giving opportunities that directly impact Iowa State Athletics. The We Will Fund supports our coaches in recruiting and retaining top student-athletes to represent the Cardinal & Gold. It helps empower Cyclones on and off the field while keeping Iowa State competitive in the Power 4 landscape. The Unrestricted Fund gives the Athletics Department flexibility to direct resources where they are needed most — whether that’s facility upgrades, student-athlete programs, or other priorities that help the department respond quickly to urgent needs. Lastly, the Champions Circle supports strategic initiatives and long-term priorities, ensuring Iowa State Athletics continues to thrive now and for years to come.
