The Island of Misfit Toys

Trivia: in the OG Rudolph, the credits don't show anything with the misfit toys and it's assumed they didn't even go back to get them.

After public outrage via letters to the creators, they changed it to what we see now, which is basically just throwing them out to whomever happens to find them.

I watched this stoned last year and for some reason I couldn't stop laughing about Hermey wanting to become a dentist. There has to be something subliminal about this show.
If I watched it stoned it was over 46 years ago so I don't know that. But the subliminal Herby wants to be a dentist was a funny thing as other little things in the show. I remember actually being scared of the abondible snowman part as a kid. My Dad a WWII vet probably thought "freaking soft son here".

I was always terrified of the lollipop kids from the Wizard of Oz. Those little dudes were way more terrifying than any witch.

So are you suggesting that instead of this happy ending the OP is expecting, we’re going to have to rely on letters from the Big12 to feel like this season is a success? That’s depressing.

If you’re being serious then maybe Rankin and Bass were actually successful in disguising the queer themes in subtext?

Edit: Maybe this really is a spoiler?: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was about coming out as gay and finding community.

Lol. Its just so random that he wants to be a dentist and open his own practice.. I laughed for at least 2 hours. Where did they come up with that ****?

My brother looks a bit like Yukon Cornelius, and named one of his comedy albums "Yukon Cornelius Sings the Blues."

I gotta get high and watch Rudolph now.

My assumption was they wanted the juxtaposition of the expectation he live this magical/fantastical life with his aspirations of something wholly mundane. That way it’d be the inverse of the trope of the gay kid raised in a conservative, middle-class life that wants to move to New York to sing on Broadway.

…and Dentistry is just inherently funnier than accounting.

But I agree, it is funny as **** on both the textual and subtextual level, particularly when high.

I either need to get high and rematch this or you guys are getting way to deep on this.

Or you guys did shrooms.
