Man I know I've said this before but so disappointed in how many of the players from Iowa are leaving. Its really surprising to me.

Guess it really shows how little they actually cared for Iowa State, just a place for them to play. At least much less than us fans.

Yes yes there's a lot thats going into this but for some of these players leaving with one year of eligibility left, man... Depressing.

Eh. They only have a year left, go chase a bag. They’ve earned it as much as it sucks

Maybe this has been mentioned, but my thoughts would be that the new staff still has a shot to keep some of these portal entries.. in this day in age with money etc., especially with a coaching change, I think players would be doing themselves a disservice if they didn't enter to see what else is out there and then once they realize there isn't, some will probably stay.. another reason why these stupid letters are dumb.. ebel and neal did it the best so far, but maybe they were reading CF!

This just isn’t how it works. These players are going into the portal because they already have money and an offer waiting for them somewhere else, in a lot of these cases

The more I look at the current portal, and even MORE athletes that will be entering the portal still, i am less worried for ISU and more worried for CFB in general. We will be able to build an entirely NEW team and be swapping 3*s for 3*s. This is going to be much less about coaching, and more about who can evaluate the best talent out there in the portal, AND what kind of brilliant money manager do you have running your NIL program?
Just looking at for example LBs in the portal

Wesloski 3* 6-1 225 RS-Jr North Texas (#25)
Ezeogu 3* 6-3 200 RS-Fr JMU (CFP)
Romaine 3* 6-2 232 Jr Kansas St
Lefau 3* 6-1 211 Jr Texas
Howard 3* 6-4 241 Jr Florida

It is going to be HOW do you evaluate who can do what for the cost?

I think I have moved Penn State up near the top of my list of most despised college programs. Sanderson moving on to PSU in April 2009 - taking key guys from the roster with him & costing us a potential Natty in 2010 - put the Nittany Lions on my crap list. Then the Sandusky/Joe Paterno victim abuse travesty placed them even higher up on that list. Now, with Campbell leaving us without what would have been a VERY SEASONED, play-off/championship caliber roster in 2026 - PSU is now in the top three of my most hated programs. I'm not sure who I'll be rooting for in the Nebby-Penn State or Iowa-Penn State football matchups going forward. (Had Cael stayed one more year/ had Matt stayed just one more year - ah what could have been!)

Yes, some are just trying to get a raise. Some will be back.
