On another note, I guess we can just assume the remaining guys are open to staying and we’re working out NIL money with them?

Sama would seem like a priority, the other QB…some linemen.
Via endless sources beyond CF. Broadly unanimous, "We've been decimated, both sides..."
Doesn't seem far fetched.

Via JC & Co-based pod, InCYde zone, many things stood out, but one stands atop the list.
The vehicles in the player's parking lot..
Who'da ever thunk.
Great pod-show!

Got a link?

We have 14 million to spend on players. Things will look different but the ‘chicken little’ bull **** is way over the top.
That's not a lot. When others say they will pay twice your tag, say 100k vs 200k, where they going to go?

If you want to find a narrative for this that plausibly fits what he showed over 10 years I’d go with Campbell is pissed Pollard effectively pulled the plug on his program and may not even be consciously aware he is.

I’m not at all saying I believe Campbell is vindictively trying to sabotage ISU football, just that a story exists that fits the public character.

He spent a decade building a program in Ames. He has talked about building something rather than being somebody.

That last part is tricky, because hiding from ego doesn’t make it disappear.

So is it plausible Campbell negotiated down his buyout with a master plan to leave an acolyte in place to continue the program when he moved on?

Is his building wrapped up in personal legacy?

Would having a P4 head coach in his tree at age 46 be a hell of a milestone to hit while building that legacy?

That Pollard felt compelled to meet with Mouser right after Campbell is a little odd. I mean, Mouser had just completed his second season as a coordinator at any level. Was Mouser taking over something Campbell had hinted at?

So could Campbell convince himself that he is acting in the best interest of kids left behind by telling them it is no longer the same program? Could he convince himself it isn’t about his own legacy (and ego)?

It doesn’t sound impossibly out of character?

But again, this is bored speculation based on public persona and pop psychology alone.
Or his “succession plan” was a relatively inexperienced coordinator he knew JP would never hire so it’s not “his fault” when that succession plan blows up.

To your point, he wins either way.

Well, we need a magic solution, and as I always say, it might as well be beer
Beer could be a good solution next year. I'm not being pro or con, other than it might be a good thing here (so pro) and I might be not be a con.

Not trying to ride the fence here at all.

I still think Campbell was always a Grade-A phony. Someone from where he's from, they will ALWAYS be looking to go home. And again, I don't fault him for that on a personal/family level, but it shows how friggin lame his spiel was his entire time here at ISU. "Build a legacy" my ass...and yeah, he's quite the noble coach when he manages to poach all his top players to Pedo U, yeah, what a "family, Christian" guy, FO already. I'm all in for let's go build something Coach Rogers.

FWIW, I do not have lots of free $ with my personal family issues, but I love ISU and I'm sending $1K this year as my donation, so I feel like I get to vent for that expense, LOL. Also, post-Christmas 2AM liquor-speak, but that's on me, after 15 relatives in-house, whew....
