My son graduated from Iowa State last weekend. Literally hours before commencement, Rocco announced he was leaving, and it was in all the college football news. He was featured in the video played at commencement talking about how much he loved Iowa State, the right fit, etc. Literally a couple hours after announcing this. What terrible timing. He knew this was going to be played, why not wait a day to announce leaving?

ENDLESS VARIABLES.
We can only imagine × 100.

Jamie is easily the second person you should blame. He chose (right or wrong, only time will tell, but yikes) to move in a different direction.
I think we’re just in two different places. I love ISU sports, and I love football, but I absolutely loathe both greed and dishonesty. I am also not a fan of quitting, people who aren’t sincere, and the lack of loyalty to the university. I can’t in good conscience blame the guy who is refusing to bow to the greedy players. I’m 1000% serious when I say if I saw a reasonable path to fielding a lacrosse team at Jack Trice…and we didn’t have to stay on this football merry go round, I would support JP getting rid of football. All I see from the football team is a bunch of money hungry dogs.

It's your fault you fell for coach speak.

There's nothing about Iowa State or any other place that makes it immune to this. This is a business and you'll feel so much better if you just realize you're cheering for your favorite laundry and that these 'kids' are just like anyone else and will jump to whatever place offers them the best deal.

I'm not telling anyone what to do with their money but you'll feel a whole lot better about what you're doing with your dollar if you're not using it to pay 20 year olds to play on top of getting benefits that no other students get.

Very easy to get swept up in thinking you're special when you're winning or when things are stable. Conversely it's very easy to think you'll never get back to winning when you're in a bad place like we are now. I suspect we'll be fine over time but that's cold comfort right now.

I do hope people remember how they feel right now the next time a coach gets a big win and everyone starts to put him on a pedestal and call for crazy one-sided contract extensions.

At least he actually graduated...but yeah that's unfortunate.

Maybe it was a really good troll job by the Iowa State marketing video group. Made him just sit there in embarrassment lol

Considering that the vast majority of our transfer player's won't see an NFL dime, tho maybe some UFL chump change, I can't blame them for, "A few dollars more."
The kids that will HOPEFULLY stick around?
Lifetime Clone fans...from Iowa only.
I doubt that the vast majority of our out-of-state recruits ever heard of ISU, beyond an ESPN highlite reel or two.

I remember a couple Iowa dudes who made us all proud: Brett Meyer and Todd Blythe.

Well, there were no qualified HC candidates on the existing staff, except for Heacock. So I’m not sure what else Pollard was supposed to do.
There was a definite shock in the small circle close to the program that Mouser didn't get the job. Schaalhaese got the call as soon as Pollard caught wind of it. He's gonna be a NFL head coach in 3 years so that's a no go. CJR was second.
I personally don't like the direction Pollard is going and he's definitely heard similar frustrations from boosters and supporters.

I’ve come to where I’ve accepted that we won’t know the players next year.

And that’s ok.

I don’t think that means we’ll suck.

We trusted the process…and it ****** us

From what little I've gathered, which ain't much, TJ played a role.
