Here is the hard reality.

We had a bunch of quitters & WSU didn’t.

Jimmy sacrificed and left staff to coach a bowl…MC didn’t.

One of them felt bad about leaving & did something for the fans. One didn’t.

I can honestly say the following.

I was very happy with MC as HC.

I can’t believe anyone of character would want any affiliation with the fan base of pedo state. (James Franklin is an ass…so he didn’t shock me)

I am 100% convinced that Jimmy F’n Football will meet or exceed what MC would have done here during the next 5-10 years.

I base that not off hope, but off everything I’ve seen and read about him…and how a team he pulled out of his ass in Pullman Wa just played with that much heart and grit in that bowl game for his staff.

That gentlemen…is a winner.
None of the assistants had left yet, when they decided not to play. And it was told that they were willing to stay and coach through the bowl, regardless if they were moving on. Just like Wazzu and anywhere else.

Heacock said he would coach, the bowl. The situation was no different than anywhere else that has ever lost a coach before a bowl, the assistants step up and coach the team through the finish.

What in the hell are you talking about. ISU could have done the same thing wazzu did. Have the DC and others stay through the bowl. Heacock said he would do it. The rest of the staff for the most part would have stayed through the bowl, just like what wazzu did.

No one was going to install a new system. Hell they could have brought in Coach Mac, he would have learned the playbook and used what everyone knew, and kept the rest of the staff as interim, because they knew the system. But in the end that wasnt even necessary, and ISU could have done what every other team that has lost a coach before the bowl in history has done. Named someone from the staff as interim and continued.

This theory that no one would play, and there would have been no one to coach idea is complete and total BS. Hell even if some of the starters sat out, It would be great to get people like Moberly and Manske some experience, some of the others that are staying could really benefit from the experience of the extra time.
Let Walden coach

People would be really surprised how money is dispersed. Abu Sama was the highest paid player last season. Not sure about this season. I'd imagine it was Rocco.

We Will Foundation only had a few million NIL then. The amounts have escalated.

It's more his stock was through the roof after the Kansas St. game. Arkansas, Auburn, and Indiana all went hard at him.
And that's why I'm ok not playing in a bowl game. The players would have been auditioning for another team. And it wouldn't have been the players that were starters that are leaving as they would have opted out.

Nah, we should've played. Players are paid to compete and that should've been the message from the Athletic Department.

**** Walden, he hates ISU, and bad mouths the Cyclones and crys whenever he opens his mouth.
That’s sad given we allowed him to suck for entirely too long as a HC. Whatever we paid him was too much.

Pretty sure he ended his career here as well.

Nobody would ever do us the favor of hiring him away for ISU. He quit a full year before he got fired.

If Abu Sama was the highest paid player, that’s a major failure by all involved in allocating the money.
He only had the one game…how crazy is it everyone wanted him after that.

He’s still a great back, and I’m glad he stayed, but Hanson has been more productive.

Well, we had to have someone coach a team that basically was given the death penalty.

Do you want to play a bowl game or not?!
Why would we need Walden of all people. One the Assistants would have coached. Heacock would have been interim HC.

That being said if you were going to have anyone else come back and coach you ask the guy that has shown nothing but love for the Cyclones, and has been back many many times talking to the current team. Coach Mac. Not to mention it being the 25th anniversary of the Bowl game they were honored for this year. But again that wasnt necessary, because the assistants were still here and willing to do it.

Makes about as much sense as Mccarney coaching the game. I think Criner is still alive?

Mouse or Heacock would have stayed and coached the bowl game, just like Bobbitt did at Wazzu. It's not that complicated
Then why did not they not stay, ifs it was so easy of a decision. Once Campbell took the PSU job, everyone was moving on to their next job, just like most people would.

Heacock stayed and may still be in Ames. I believe Mouser left with Campbell prior to the vote. Probably was not happy he didn't get the job.

We Will Foundation only had a few million NIL then. The amounts have escalated.

If I was hearing correctly, I believe Blum mentioned the following $:
  • 2024 Season - $3M (We Will)
  • 2025 Season - $13M (We Will + Athletic Dept Reserves)
  • 2026 Season - $14M (We Will + Athletic Dept Reserves)
Not sure I'd want to be managing the "cap" at a school like ISU. I'm sure every position coach wants more and every player agent is probably lying about what marketplace is offering their client.

Did you ever think that most of the coaches did not want to stay, but wanted to get started on their new job. Most of the teams that lost a head coach, did not take most of his staff with him to the new job, Campbell is taking most of them.

The players and staff decided not to play a bowl game, get over it and let's move on.
