It's fun to be with the "cool kids". Cool kids left and now he's sad. He'll jump back on by the fall. Plus I'm sure site revenue is way higher since NIL and Portal free agency. He can cry his way to the bank or at least fly out to Happy Valley for a weekend with his buds.I appreciate everything Chris has done and continues to do for this website, but this has been a big blind spot of his for several years now.
There's a difference between being friendly with the people you cover, and being besties. The latter ultimately leads to less objective coverage, intended or not. Especially on a fan site where the average fan won't ever have those relationships, and cares about/is loyal only to ISU.
Him being so hurt by Campbell/Mouser/Rocco leaving has also lead to a 'meh' tone when talking about Rogers and the new staff, compared to the previous. I don't think he's doing it on purpose, but it's been noticeable on recent podcasts. And that's not fair to Rogers when CF is the leading Cyclone fan site.
Chris says he’ll cheer for PSU and buy a jersey if Rocco goes there
Some will agree and others not. Either way, this is the part where anyone considering this "journalism" need to step away or start looking at this differently. Imagine a beat writer for some team buying the jersey of their favorite player when they get traded to another team. That’s cuck mentality
I was glad we weren't on the coaching carousel for a month like some schools were. That would be worse for a school like ISU. IMO.JP has always been clear he’s got his lists. In the days before TP it wasn’t as critical to be fast on the draw. Today it is…I’m not sure what Michigan is going to do…but there’s no way the delay is helping retention or recruiting for them.
I‘ll say it again, journalism is dead…media is alive and well and has an agenda(s).But what’s a journalist these days? Are CF reporters considered journalists? I don’t really consider them as such. Hell, most of the people on ESPN don’t really qualify as journalists anymore. CW and the CF staff are fans. To expect anything different is going to end in disappointment.
Seems Pablo Torre may be the only true sports related journalist left. Everyone else has sold out for access. And that’ll continue because we’ve made the coaches, the AD’s, and the agents so powerful they don’t need to answer questions they don’t want to.
Exactly. Imagine if the OKC Thunder journalists bought KD Warrior jerseys. Or San Antonio Spurs journalists bought Kawhi Raptor or Clipper jerseys. Or Cowboy fans buying Parsons Packer jerseys. Some will agree and others not. Either way, this is the part where anyone considering this "journalism" need to step away or start looking at this differently. Imagine a beat writer for some team buying the jersey of their favorite player when they get traded to another team.
Again, I'm not saying any of this is wrong, FWIW.
Where I give this whole crew a pass is that I don't think they've ever tried to lead anyone to believe they're straight-up journalists. If anyone thinks that, it's on them - not CW and company.Exactly. Imagine if the OKC Thunder journalists bought KD Warrior jerseys. Or San Antonio Spurs journalists bought Kawhi Raptor or Clipper jerseys. Or Cowboy fans buying Parsons Packer jerseys.
So you refer to donate to the Clone Club to support the entire AD and not just individual players?I keep seeing this "freeing up NIL money" talk. How much was he getting? Maybe that was holding the rest of the team back.
This is just reason 1,500 why I'll never give a nickel to this NIL joke and nobody else should either. You're being grfited badly.
Think about it, average salary in Iowa is about $47,000 a year. His family's net worth is around 12 million. You're giving money to a cause that would take the average Iowa 255 years of employment to reach.
That’s why I added fans at the end. I don’t think there’s any doubt they’re Cyclone fans. Which is why I think it’s just as weird as if Cowboy fans are buying Parsons Packers jerseys.Where I give this whole crew a pass is that I don't think they've ever tried to lead anyone to believe they're straight-up journalists. If anyone thinks that, it's on them - not CW and company.
Farm Bureau he will be based in Huxley. What Company?
All you have to do is think back to the reason we hired Wayne Morgan.
Disagree. It is often otherwise, but sometimes intentional. The use of "but" in a setence is usually pretty telling. It negates the first part and emphasizes the second. Sometimes intentional, but often otherwise.
I dunno. This isn’t the Washington Post in ‘72.I think CW has a big heart and is a good guy, but you have to separate relationships from your business. It comes off as clingy and weird IMO.
