*** Official Eastern Illinois vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Meaningless game, as are the next two. Just can't be sharp every time out. Need a mental and physical break and then get into what matters.

Absolute dud, but not all of these can be 35-point drubbings. And no injuries (at least none we would notice).

I wouldn't mind one more "buy" instead of two, I want to get into conference.
Yes that was a dud, 2 stinkers in a row in terms of having consistent juice/legs/focus. Obviously not real concerning at all right now but selfishly I would prefer to play well next Sunday. TJ did not seem thrilled postgame. They had been playing really well in all games (Q1 - Q4) - they've just looked tired the last couple. Although, if we have another "clunker" 25pt win against LBSU I am sure our fans will happily use the "well it was finals week last week so I totally expected this..." excuse 1 more time :p

I'm not saying it's anything to read into, but it's been a mixed bag the last 4 years.

Omaha 83-51.
Prairie View A&M 107-56
McNeese 77-40
Jackson 47-37 (now THAT was a dud)

I hope that we can use the next couple of games to get some of the bench players up to the game speed. There is talent sitting on the bench, but they need game time experience to get the game to slow down for them.

Iowa is not suffering from a post-CyHawk, mid-finals, pre-xmas dud today, they are up by ~50.

Is this phenomenon unique to ISU?
No it’s not unique. Every team has games like this against weaker opponents. Houston beat Lehigh by 18 and Towson by 17. It’s human nature to have let downs and just go through the motions after back to back high intensity games. They took care of business.
