Sherrone Moore Fired

How many titles has Alabama won and how many has Michigan won in the last 50 years? This winningest program BS has to have a little context, Minnesota can claim multiple championships along with Army, but when they happened 75 years ago, how relevant are they to today? Football budget wise, Alabama is right at the top of the list, no clue about NIL.

I dunno. Since NIL started Michigan has won a title and Alabama hasn’t.

Maybe Alabama will keep up, but without spending caps Michigan should have an advantage going forward.

Michigan won on title on a loaded team that most of the players decided to come back and win one. They have had a scandal since for cheating that year. Comparing what Michigan has accomplished vs Alabama is laughable on any measure and it's not even close in the past 20 years.

Can’t disagree with a lot of that but the vast majority of Bama’s success came under one guy and they have yet to prove they can do anything real without him or in the current NIL era.

Michigan will have a little more leeway then bama does and way more resources but outside of that it’s very equal outside of bama’s weather and culture

Its probably more likely they realized he wasn't the guy for the job and firing him with cause is way cheaper than just firing him. Cruel but $mart move by the athletic dept?
He made it way too easy to make it with cause. But agree they probably weren’t too excited with the future with him and that made it easier too. He thought he was the ultimate Michigan Man but The guy really didn’t know how much thin ice he was on. Those are the idiots that fall the hardest.

On any measure? Really?

How about all-time wins? Win percentage? number of conference titles? Most recent national title?

These are all measures.

I am but an ignorant rube, but I feel like this NIL thing might impact college football. Perhaps it may even delineate a whole new era of the sport.

At no point did I even imply Michigan has been as successful as Alabama over the last 20 years. That is a straw man I’d want no part of.

My point, if there is one, is that in the post-NIL landscape a Kalen DeBoer might leave Alabama for Michigan without the consensus opinion being that he stepped down a class.

In fact, if it happens I’d bet some small sum talking heads will yammer on about what it means for Alabama’s ability to compete in today’s climate.

And to avoid confusion, I am not of the opinion Alabama won’t be able to compete. At most I’d say the likelihood of a Saban-like dynasty returning to Tuscaloosa in an era with unlimited spending is very, very low.

But I bet the Bama fan base will run through multiple perfectly fine coaches trying to replicate it.
