Coach Rogers Introductory Press Conference

Jimmy Rogers doesn't like the media. I've watched a bunch of his press stuff from Wazzu. He looked very irritated by it often.

I don't want a coach that loves chatting with the media. I want a coach that cries when he talks about the man who gave him an opportunity. I want a coach who talks about controlling what he can control and letting God take care of the rest. I saw a fighter. I bet the players did, too.

I have high hopes for the future of Iowa State football.

I liked that I didn't feel we were fed lines. He admits players will go, he hates the college football landscape but knows its the cards we're dealt. He is all about relationships before worrying about on field play/instruction. I'm all for it, lets see what he can do!

I thought I was going to like him based off of what I have read, but I like him even more after that press conference. The way he ended that damn thing.... chefs kiss*.

They guy wants to work. He understand it takes WORK.

He may have been born in Arizona, but that dude is MIDWESTERN. Love it.

Every coach says that, and has to say that. I won't hold that against him when a job like this one came open unexpectedly.

'I plan to be here to win a championship' is taken as 'Ames is the bestest and I'll die here if I have to' by a few.

I plan to retire from my job but that doesn't mean things won't change from all sorts of angles.

wasn't much "coach speak" love it -- it was raw and emotional

Pollard is far from perfect and I've had my gripes about decisions being made that I disagree with (student section being moved for one) but my goodness people he hasn't committed capital murder.

Whatever your opinion on him is with how NIL is being handled, I don't think there was any way that Matt was spending his ENTIRE career here. And ESPECIALLY in the current landscape.

Penn State has always had more resources, money, and history than us. And Matt shied away from numerous job opportunities in the past. I'm bummed too...Matt was the coach while I was at Iowa State and my favorite memories from college were thanks to him and the fun football teams he coached.

Again, JP is not perfect. He's done great things and some questionable things for Iowa State but some of you need to be more realistic with Iowa State's place in college football.
