Assistant Coaches

I bet Heacock retires but if I were Jimmy I’d be calling up Broomfield offering him the DC spot ASAP. That way we can retain a few of our studs on D. I’d like to see clanton stay as well. Not fond of this hire but if he does that we can at least have a starting point.
There's no way anyone from the current staff is going to be a coordinator if retained. Making Broomfield Dcoordinator just to keep a few guys around would be nuts given Rodgers is going to bring a whole new system in. His coordinators will be his guys. Id like experienced playcallers as coordinators myself. If the players don't like it they can leave and they'll be replaced. Its that simple.

It seemed like he wanted to stay close to the metro. Money thanks though . CMC better be careful hiring all his friends at a place like Penn state.
He could get away with it moving from Toledo to Iowa State. Not so much at PSU.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Watson played cornerback at Mount Union from 2002-05, where he was a freshman during Jason Candle’s senior season with the Purple Raiders. He stayed at his alma mater to begin his coaching career, spending two seasons as a defensive backs coach under legendary head coach Larry Kehres. The Purple Raiders posted a 29-1 record in Watson’s two seasons at Mount Union, winning the 2006 Division III national championship and finishing as runner-up in 2007.
yep mount union

I'll go against the grain and say I'd entertain offering Mouser. Rocco's injury hamstrung this offense greatly this year and Mouser got too cute at times, but you could also see his brilliance shine through. Clanton of course too. Don't want the WSU offensive staff.

I, too, appreciate Mouser. Thinking of his best interests, though, for his resume getting more wide-ranging experiences might be the thing.

Sure he negotiated, but accepting two existing defensive coaches is very un-Campbell like. The salary, NIL, and the challenge of being their sixth guy must have overridden losing the control he enjoyed in Ames.

Wait, you know the details not only of CMC's new contract but also the details of the negotiations? The limits of his control over his program? That's really something.

Ignore the widely written reports of the Ped St recruiting process and the known status of NIL at ISU, obviously your choice.

54-day coaching search, every offer crashing. I'm guessing CMC had a big club to hand when he spoke with those folk. Of course, I don't know that. I'm guessing you don't know, either?
Negotiating leverage was definitely on the candidates’ side given what we know. Still doesn’t mean you listen, let alone negotiate, and ultimately take, the job. Too many immediate red flags, let alone long term red flags that are still valid, IMHO.

I took a red flag job once. Knew what I was getting into too. Hated all 3+ years I worked there. Doing this however, got me to where I am presently and I have no major complaints.

Was recently presented with a “name your price” opportunity to take over a burning, sinking ship. Did some research and gave it some brief consideration before saying “no thanks”.

There’s gives and takes in any job. The question is what are the trade offs and are you comfortable with them.

Apparently CMC is and we will never know if he has any buyer’s remorse.
